Dovedale is the name given to the section of the Dove valley between Milldale and Thorpe Cloud in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire.
It contains some of the most spectacular limestone gorge scenery available in this country, and is one of the most popular dales in the Peak District. For this reason, I seldom go there! But get there early in the morning, and the tourists and their coaches are yet to arrive!
This is the view from Thorpe Cloud, a 1000ft high hill overlooking the dale.
On this particularly windy day, I was struggling to stand upright long enough to take this shot without holding onto a rocky outcrop.
