Irene Burdell
A fabulous shot and great lighting
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thank you Irene.
The lighting was just the available fluorescent lights in the workshop. I took a number of images of differing exposures ranging from 1/2 to 2 seconds, and combined them using Photomatix in order to maximise the detail.

I can, looks warn but not warn out! I love to see old things restored like this.
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks for your comment Eric. Glad you liked it.
Unfortunately, subjects like this, and my other favourites (cars and architecture) fail to hit the spot in my camera club competitions!
ericseyes
But don’t ever change your style to suit them, be true to what your vision of pictures is. I’m about to hang some of my work at at local coffee shop and I thought about what to hang and decided to forego a possible sale to hang what I like.
Paul Woloschuk replied
I take encouragement from what you say Eric. Although I often consider whether a certain shot might make be successful in a comp, but first and foremost I take a shot simply because it pleases me.

Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks mate!
I’m still not too happy with HDR stuff – it tends to be a bit hit and miss as to whether the result’s acceptable to my eye.

amazing lighting!
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thank you, but I had no control over the lighting – I was just fortunate that it wasn’t too bright and uniform so it allowed some definition of the metal surface of the gears.
