Stanage Edge
Stanage Edge in Derbyshire is the longest gritstone edge in England at 3.5 miles in length and is a popular haunt for rock climbers like the chap featured here!
The weather (and the light) can change quickly in this region, so I was lucky to have a brief spell of good light on this otherwise dull day.

If it was closer I’d give that climb a try (okay, maybe not, but its fun to dream). Its nice to be able to see such a marvelous image of this scenic place. Thanks!
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks Randall. It’s certainly one of my favourite areas for photography. The light’s often stunning, and there usually lots of different landscapes to shoot.

Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks very much. There wasn’t much decent light about that day. Maybe I’ll take another trip up there later this year.

Fantastic work Paul, Iv’e climbed Stanage (the easy parts!!). It’s a beautiful spot. Theres a real mood to this shot – The light is wonderful against such a dark sky which is perfectly exposed! An instant fave!

Thanks Paul

I might give the Peaks a miss this year – I’m thinking of spending a few days in South Wales instead, an area I’ve not visited ‘photographically’ before.

I love the green velvet look of the fields beyond! My son would LOVE this rock face to climb!
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks Pat. I used to climb there myself back in the 70s, but I was a bit fitter back then! ;-)

WOW!! love this one and having the rockclimber adds a little human interest and scale. The play oif light fileds just finishes the image.
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks Andrew.
I spent quite a while waiting for this climber to get into the right position….but he kept looking at me and smiling, so I also have a couple of ‘happy’ versions on this shot!
Jason Connolly

Great image – captured the essence of the place. Used to climb up there a lot!
Paul Woloschuk replied
Thanks very much. It’s the one place in the Peaks that I always make time for. That gritstone’s really good to climb, but I fear my climbing days are well-passed now!
