I’ve been taking photographs for over 15 years and in that time the desire to get out and take pictures has ebbed and flowed. Now I’m enjoying it again and now I’m trying to challenge my ideas on photography, taking a sometimes surreal look at the world. The main thing I try to achieve with my images is to show people, places and situations in a way they may not have been seen before.
I particularly enjoy urban locations, portraits, landscapes and night photography. I mainly work digitally now but try to ensure that I get the image I want from the camera when I take the picture, rather than relying on digital manipulation too much. I use a Sony Alpha A55 for the majority of my photography, I also have a Panasonic Lumix FX38 for snaps, plus a Canon EOS 50E when I feel the need to use film again. I’ve also started using a couple of Lomo cameras; the Fisheye 2 and the Supersampler for even more ways to create interesting photographs.
I’m lucky enough to have travelled to a number of places around the world and travel photography is certainly a passion of mine. You’ll find a number of images in the galleries taken on my travels, of course now I have Sydney as the backdrop to my photography.
