This is wonderful Paul, marvelous. At first glance one is sure this is a Dog, but upon closer examination you see how the nose are swoops down into what could perhaps be a beak, & the feet could be a Dog’s feet, but also might be talons, the ear, & then there is that little slip of what looks like a tail. Such a powerful & arresting image, the eye is stunning, peering out right at me, asking for help? or leave me alone? The title is excellent. Love this Paul, full of magic & wonderment

i read the tags right after i hit the send button, & i saw Dog, i was going on the title before, so i hope i didn’t insult you by saying he looked like a Bird. my first thought when i saw your loving drawing was a Chihuahua

Thanks for the comments, pinkyjain. It’s a picture of my Mum’s dog curled up in his bed but I deliberately made it hard to tell what animal he is. I also think his feet look a lot like talons. We don’t know what breed he is exactly – a Basenji cross with something else. I’m glad the picture brought so many questions into your mind. xo

This is beautiful, man. Dogs are such tough but loyal creatures, so vulnerable but so full of stubbornness and strength. I think you capture all of that and then some. I have to go cuddle with my dog now.

Awesome portrait… dogs are illusive creatures… it’s fascinating how they manage to live with us and learn to balance their natural instincts with our human demands on them. This image makes me think of my Chihuahua, Mya, who uses the blankets in her doggy bed to cover herself up when she’s chilly :)
