A riderless horse known as the black horse of Sutton’s Forest. It was regarded as a sign of coming disaster. It has been known to pass right through houses.

I read your reference first and I shivered and then tried to recall if I’ve seen Sutton gallop through my home. I shall ponder that.
Simply amazing art…the detail is mesmerising. Haunting work.
Paul Compton replied
Thank you so much Lisa. I love Australian ghost stories, they’re often quite understated and focus on the echoes throughout a landscape or memory etc. So glad you like this and I hope you’ve been well : )

dramatic and compelling especially coupled with your description, Paul. Really fine work.
Mui-Ling Teh
Awesome Paul! Love the hazy effect you have done in that background; really looks like an ominous aura from the horse (or that it is morphing itself from matter so that it can pass through houses… or it’s a ghost?)
