Spectacular, llove the creature of the black lagoon look, scary & erotic at the same time. As always i just absolutely adore the framing & the sepia background

  • Paul Compton replied

Thank you so much pinky!! I’m really proud of this particular one. Funny you should mention “scary & erotic” because I remember thinking the same thing when I first watched MGMs The Creature From The Black Lagoon – it’s the scene where the female lead is swimming and unbeknown to her the creature is mimicking her movements below the surface. It’s a strangely beautiful scene. One of the first films to focus on environmental issues also I think. Thanks for the comment and support as always pinky! : )

It’s interesting to see a hint of human-like hands under that skin. Well we humans were once animals ourselves. This suddenly reminds me of the process of evolution and how many land creatures and water creatures are related. If I’m correct all creatures were first from the water, then they became land creatures, and some remained as land creatures while others returned to the waters becoming dolphins, sharks, etc. but if you see their bones, you can see evidence of legs; which show they were once from the land; very fascinating stuff. I wonder if this creature here was once human; or is becoming one…

  • Paul Compton replied

Fascinating – definitely! I think subconsciously I’m very interested in this concept; my drawing Birthplace also has this theme in it. MGMs The Creature From the Black Lagoon, which these hands are based on, is one of those monsters that is all too human despite his appearance. I love your comments Mui-Ling and cherish them. Thank you immensely and I hope you’re well : )
