The Tees Newport Bridge was designed by Mott, Hay and Anderson and built by Dorman Long, who were also responsible for the Tyne Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was the first large vertical lift bridge in Britain and opened to traffic in 1934.
It spans the River Tees at Middlesbrough and, though still used by traffic, had its lifting capability decommissioned in 1990.
This is a “regular” shutter version of my previous, slow-shutter, upload. Colours are a little bolder and, of course, the water and sky a lot sharper.
