Todays Smiling Moments, During my adolecent period our Home and castle was a 10 foot wide by 49 foot trailer 490 square foot home, for the time the best we could afford, the smile comes into play because my home of choice today has a 42 foot by 22 foot garage, what dreams are made of ! we all start somewhere, and the description of home, that place built to suite our needs and desires, the Trailer was insulated for Maine climates, extra insulation and skined with stainless steel, a small of everything, from the furnace to the hot water heater that often ran out of hot water, and the furnace that labored all night to provide comfort ! no need of air conditioning the summertime heat rarely toppled the 90 degree mark, and the breeze most often constant, with no foundation, only cynder block for leveling and a canvased enclosure from the bottom to the ground, so that snow could be shoveled around the base to contain the radiant heat from within ! wood veneered interior walls, with a shine ! easy to maintain, at six foot six inches the bunk style sleeping bed cabinets above on one side and below on the other, no room for clutter, on the days unable to go outside because of inclement weather, Rex and I My Doberman friend shared the quarters, me reading and Rex Snooring, life was a smiling moment, we had our dreams, now warm memories ! • Hi Pearl, It’s been many years ago now I drew up plans for my own hacienda, of course that dreem included 2 1/2 acres, :-)), Oh well aim for the stars and accept the Moon is not bad either, 2800 sq. feet is plenty big enough, without including my (Playpen) garage. paul

My story is very similiar to yours. Thank goodness that we live in a country where we have opportunities to improve our lives.

  • One of us is up late, or perhaps early, or both! my saving grace was spending 8 in the military, getting to see the world a bit, drove that nail home, self worth means much more than net worth, once I saw how others lived ! of course we made those opportunities work, not always easy ! living history, as compared to just reading about it! I’ve always liked the expression, ( in some circles some consider money builds character, while reality says without it character happens faster and with better results !) Health, and the smile now thats worth a picture to save, I’m sure it’s true back then we were happy being who we were, at least in my case ! had one person tell me I had lived a sheltered life, of course! I answered he had a limited vocabulary ! than added, even you can’t do nothing! but we learned to do everything with it ! and he conceeded and said Thanks ! Country boys and girls get respect ! ♥ paul

Very nice, Paul! I admire this place every time I pass and have tried – and failed – to capture its essence as you have done. Great job!

  • Thank You ! Mitch, I as well had developed a fondness for it’s style, simple question to myself, asking what makes this structure so attractive ? giving credit , the camera makes me look good !
