Flowering Bush, Common to Argentina but addapted to the desert Southwest USA, principle to Texas, however can be found in New Mexico, of the Legume family, but not related to streitzia as would be found on the Hawaiian Islands, in the Southwest it is used as an ornamental bush, and has been used as a decorative perennial ! It’s darn right amazing what the world about us looks like through a 300 mm lense, here I was litterly chasing this New Mexico RoadRunner around the neighborhood, when I realized that it was not one but three, make a fool of me, I wondered how it was getting around so quickly, well ! from on top of neighbors roof to the ground is about 3 second’s, since it is a bird that doesn’t fly, it ’s like the flying squirrel, has a decent gluide path ! As i made my way to where it landed, suddenly distracted by this unusual bush, So I did have to get across the street to take the picture , that I wanted to capture, I crossed my finger and eyes, in hopes that I could stop the effects of the inconsistant breeze, Minimal post process, amazing at 24 foot away, leaning against tree, (my monopod)! oh well ! sharing the smile is fun ! Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. May Blooms !

Hey, I didn’t mention how good you shot is! My plant was only young & not much foliage/blooms when I saw it, i must go back & see how it is now (2 years on), sure hope it looks this nice :)

  • Why do you make me chuckle, thought in my head, " do come back the picture does not age " praise is not as important at my age, the smiles shared are the best encouragement !

I grow lots of bird of Paradise but your specimen is by far the tightest, healthiest I’ve seen! Beautiful. Fortuantely, they don’t move and will pose very nicely for you!!

  • Thank You ! David, I’ve made a print already and presented to my neighbor, in turn she offered me one of the shoots, the fun part she ask me where I got the picture from, and I thanked her for the opportunity and she ran out," litterly " and looked at her bush in astonishment, Her Mom, is convolesing and doing well at 93 years young. my gift to those unable for them that arn’t able to go outside and view ! I sure do love that SMILE ! paul

PaulAlbert, I had so many shots of this plant and I love them all! As David said, yours is one of the tightest I have seen. Shooting them is akin to shooting an octopus and macros are really a challenge. Great photo!

  • Thank You ! Kathleen for your warm visit as well shared comments, an update to the comment response to David, is that I have recently planted one of the floral wonders next to my home as an offshoot seedling, we shall see what a green thum I possess, have noticed that this plant appears to an attraction to the resident Bees ! again Thanks ! Paul
