My interest and involvement in the arts include:- painting, pencil portraits and artworks, photography, writing novels, writing poetry, short film making, jewellery design and manufacture. I also ran my own dance aerobic classes for several years. This included a 12 month stint of introducing my style of class to the S.A. Deaf Society.

With regard to painting I have been involved in many exhibitions and have launched 2 solo exhibitions the first “The Gold Collection” in 2007 at the Chambers Gallery S.A., and the most recent, “Space Sea & Fantasy” in January/February 2008 at Gallery M, Marion Cultural Centre South Australia. I am also a member of the Red House Art Group.

My early artworks are mainly acrylic on canvas and over the past couple of years I have worked with mixed media on canvas. This year, however, I have experimented with pastels, oil pastels, acrylic on glass and I have also explored various techniques with pencil on paper.

I am a keen photographer and I will be exhibiting some of my works on this site for the first time.

I founded a poetry group back in the 1980’s “Poetry in Life Society” or “PILS”. In the 90’s I was a state winner for a National Poetry competition. I have had several of my poems published in anthologies. I am currently writing 2 novels “My Tribe” and “Roxanne – In Hindsight”. Recently I wrote a booklet titled “Shades of Grey – In a Colourful World” and am currently seeking publication.

I am a member of the Square Eyes Cafe and have had 7 of my short films screened at the Marion Cultural Centre theatre during 2007 and 2008. One of my short films “The Amazing Posse Kerr” was accepted into the library of the Regency Park Special School S.A. early 2009. I hope to distribute the film to other schools.

I also design and make jewellery. My jewellery has travelled all over Australia and as far away as the U.S.A.

All works are copyright Paula Kerr. Please do not copy/use my imagery or writing without the express permission of the artist. Thank you.

Harvest of Pain - 2006-2007

it wanted me dead

Destiny

The well gets deeper / The dark gets darker / And I fall into the well

Coming Home

I could see by the expression / On his beautiful little face / That his heart was almost bursting / With anticipation, with hope

Finding what you need - when you need it

I selfishly pulled them together / with the strings of my heart / and the pockets of my soul

Gretchen (Red Writing Room) exercise "create a character"

She was a very progressive and hip nun for that time and loved to talk about the Beatles.

Gretchen, (Red Writing Room exercise "Pick Six")

She could almost be sitting there with a cup of tea in her hand she is that calm.
