I was excited to find this dragonfly, as I love them. I like seeing all the different varieties. This one was found on the Fourth of July in Missouri. This is a Male Widow Skimmer, with the official name of Libellula luctuosa. (Thanks to Mike’s comment below!)

This was taken with my older point and shoot camera.

I love nature and everything in it. If I can capture it with my camera in a way that is meaningful, that is something that brings me great joy.

I am a mother to two wonderful boys, and wife. I have come to learn that life is very precious, and flying by. What we do matters, and appreciating the beauty in life is one of its great gifts to us.

Hoping to travel more in the future, continue to get to know my camera, as well as continue capturing what I can with it.

What a beauty, Paula! Marvellous close up. I’m pretty sure this one goes by the cool name “Widow Skimmer” Libellula luctuosa and is a male.

Here’s a great site for helping to ID these wonderful insects.

  • Mike, thank you so very much for your comment and link there! I really appreciate it! Glad you stopped by. :)
