I’m fascinated with these buildings – the neglect, the total disregard, the fact it is no longer required… and the light was just right when I spyed this image.
concrete, dirt, distressed, neglect, red, streetscape
Love this. Reminds me of Robert Adams but in colour.
this is nice… i am always drawn to images in square format but i very rarely do it myself.love the subtle details in this…the burnt tones… and the factory roof in the distance
This has really grown on me. Some great cropping and nice tones, looks American to me… reminds me of William Eggleston.. Great Work
It looks a little american to me, too. I love the shadows, and the framing…the square format is always so tough for me, but you make it look easy! Excellent image, Paul!!
This is fantastic… it just works somehow…
This image fascinates me every time I see it and stays in my mind long after. You have a singular way of making the seemingly mundane infinitely compelling. The angles here, the light, shadows and flowers flourishing amidst the disrepair begin a story that leaves me wanting more. Something tells me you could do an entire book of brilliant roadside images such as this with ease. Amazing work Paul!!
thanks so much Bindi, so glad you get it and see it – and yes, would love to do a book and just title it ‘mundane’ and try to make each image tell a definitive story… thank you again!!!!!! I love documenting these scenes, you walk past them everyday, so what if we frame them and present them back to the world… I find it fascinating.
