oooo….I love the way the rectangles of moulded concrete show the light and shade in repeating patterns, fabulous lift with the yellow thingamejigs, and the diagonals to bring you back to the centre again…..then there’s the 3….This really appeals to me, Paul, I can’t believe I’m not seen it before!

You’ve not only captured light, texture and colour but you’ve captured silence. WOW. I really like this. I can imagine walking towards the door, heels clicking on the paved floor, no other sound around. This is so cool.

what is a standout for me in your work is the way in which you use lines and space to such dramatic effect.I love your work.

Gotta go get “Freud For Dummies” out to check my reaction, but it sure do seem kind of, well… let’s see… Enormous vertical shaft piercing the plane… pile of horizontal rectangles. And that plane awash in the softest romantic flow… Then there’s the kind of fleshy palette… Yeah… where did I put that book on Sigmund’s theories of the id? Darn…. it’s around here somewhere… :)

    Great idea here Paul…

Great image! I like the curved metal tower, almost like a lighthouse and the blackness beyond. Love the orange 3 on the rusty door too!

  • thank you diana – love what you see here… this is one of my favourites, these landscapes so speak to me!

You have a way of making big things seem HUUUUUGE.
You truly appreciate space and that’s transferred through a large
portion of your work. I know about the rule in photography, about being
careful that you don’t have items/subjects that lead out of the picture-
that’s true. This is riiiiight on the edge of that, but the dark #3 door keeps
pulling my eye back down & back into it. (so that rule doesn’t necessarily
apply here.) Fine work, and I hope you’re selling the heck out of your book! ;)

  • thanks for your wonderful insight, so well written! – I so appreciate it brigitta – and yes, this is one of my favourites… love negative space!
