Italy Industrial
Italians just love their concrete, and once in a while will throw a piece of modernism architecture in an industrial area. I had so much fun in the early morning veering off into these areas and exploring the barren streets. There is the quintessential red and white stripe pole in the far, far distance that smacks of industrialism in Italy.
Italy Industrial belongs to the following groups:

Wow this looks like a painting….its brilliant…

That slice/slab of orange is mouthwatering….Love the lighting as always.
Mark German
Love it, Paul.
Great lines, colours, treatment. Has that distinct surreal look that you specialise in. And love the overgrown ‘barber pole’ ;)
Melinda Kerr
Yes I see the pole, what a great pick up for the red on the main building. I like particularly what you’ve done with the grass here. The middish green, to the lighter green to the dry looking brownish ‘tough’ grass at the back. The grass is as industrial as everything else in this shot. You know ‘hard wearing-easy care-tough grass!’ In that sense it could be anywhere in the world. And the sky, it’s got so many colours in it. Your work is just so bloody good Paul!
meanderthal
beautiful work paul….. the red building is sublime in it’s fabricationalism…
i think i’m over tired.. that’s not even a real word… but the image is fab!!
Michael Douglass
Yes what they said! Took a moment to find the barber pole, was like a Where’s Wally pic for a moment, was stuck on the blue sign. Love the square frame

You sound like me, heading off with camera early in the morning, leaving the sleeping partner and kids to enjoy their holiday inside a hotel room…...This strikes hard with the bright red building, but when you start studying the details, there’s just so much of interest! Of course that red and white pole is masterfully placed as well. I’ve always found the square format difficult, but this is just wonderful.
Jessica Tremp
great work as usual Paul, I love that bright bright red of the building, it really brings the whole image alive
victor
Hey!... it works just as well if you look at it side ways, or upside down….....easier with a laptop.
Colours to swim into, can you go back when there’s a blue sky and hard green lawns?, ....that’d work to. Make an interesting comparison.
Anita Donohoe

the unmowed grass makes a nice contrast

Great balance of weight and color. Crisp and clean with just enough mess of vegetation to cut the man-madeness of the scene. Your eye is unfallable.

THANKS CARMEL – THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES, found an Industrial wasteland not too far from my Aunty’s house in far north Italy, I spent ages just framing all the views… so exciting. Thank you!
Jason Michaels
Wonderful image. There’s a Mondrian aspect to it, albeit featuring more muted tones. I have it framed in my home.
jiba
Fantastic, I love your shots of industrial bareness, the perspective is nothing short of perfect and the use of the soft grey sky lines really brings out the magic happening in the foreground!
Jennifer Woodward
Love you signature style, Paul, you just know how to compose a scene for maximum impact – wham! :-)

Being something of an italianophile myself, I love how you’ve caught a scene that is so typical but so far removed from the usual churches/palazzi/gondola type images. A brilliant shot that definitely brings back memories.
