Where did you find this plane parts?

Fantastic work Paul. As Jo mentioned you do have a style that’s “signature” even though this is a step to the left your umimitable styling and class shines through.
Ben Rowe
This is terrific Paul – you’ve really captured the eeriness here.
Thanks for all of your comments too :)

Seriously awesome piece here. Right on target. I especially like the overall design of the image with the separate pieces.

Love it. True to your style. Love the body on the left!

O.M.G. – What a piece of fantastic art! It is thought provoking and challenging… It offers so much more than just a brilliantly crafted piece. So many elements yet so well controlled and designed. Love the type and the layout.. From the thumbnail I thought the vertical bars were created from the boarding lounge windows looking out to the runway. They also create a very tense/anxious mood which I imagine would be part of the fear. The image and treatment is awesome… I feel almost like a shouldn’t be seeing what I’m seeing (like driving past a car crash)... Truly outstanding and inspiring piece!!
Alexander Gitlits
Love it!

I will no doubt contemplate this image and meaning as I board a flight tomorrow morning for Adelaide – impeccable timing as this was the 1st image to appear whilst waiting for boarding pass to print….hey, if anything should happen, at least I’ll go down w/ 1 hell of an image fresh in my mind.
Your work is 1 hell of a treat!
Lee Burgess
This is brilliant! I just love your style Paul!
Michael Alesich
I think I like it more as the the graduation is flowing from the top. I can feel the paranoia.
How did you manage to get to see a landing gear just sitting like that? its not exactly easy to find.
Deborah Hally
Hate flying..love this image, wonderfully set up and as with all your work has a sort of dream feel (or in this case nightmare!)

WOW – thanks for your great comments, really appreciate it! Great to get such a great vibe from everyone… As previously mention to David D… here’s a bit of a rationale / background to the image:
Thanks for commenting on “Fear of Flying”… happy to share… I shot the landscape and figure in Italy, the aeroplane door, wheels and junk in California just last month or so… I’ve been thinking of creating a narrative impact piece with the discarded plane wreckage pic for awhile, and just worked in Photoshop to compile the image. I had to strike the right flavour with colour and tone and also wanted to give the image an edge, or context if you will, thusly created the layout design with type and vertical white lines, to give it the feeling of an almost contextual, recordable event. Also the lines help create these visual passages into the image, to explore and delve into it more… the figure on the left adds that slightly surreal and dreamlike context… was it thrown from the plane, is it sleeping, is it a mannequin…. Hope that helps – and thanks for liking the work!

Looking at the icon, it looked like an album cover for an LP (remember them?). Having seen it full, I still think it would be a great one….certainly draw my eye if I spotted it on a CD rack.
Great image, wonderful execution – but thanks pal – gotta fly overseas again shortly – makes me want to swim instead! ;-)
Very effective.

Adrian Rachele
Usual brilliance Paul.
Stephen Mitchell
I just like the use of vertical splitters, make each section a photograph in itself. Great concept. And I like the illusion that it’s a record-cover or similar…
Michael Douglass
Am at work starving for something of substance so visiting your work, this one’s a bit different for you with the graphic design elements added, is that the same area you’ve shot some other photos? Like how the vertical line binds the text to the image, the shapes created by the manequin and wreckage led me around the image in a circularly motion, wreckage, text, body, wreckage. Nice work.
My fear of flying started when I saw Flying High, ‘We better get them to a hospital fast’. ‘What is it doctor’? ‘It’s a large building with patients but that’s not important right now’.
Paul Vanzella
BRILLIANT KALB! Love it! (and thanks for the appreciation of this image)

I was at work yesterday showing some friends how much I adore your work and this one in particular. You have been adding some crazy awesome stuff since I went away and I have been wanting to come in and drool. This piece is just amazing. So interesting to see you going more graphic and adding those extra elements to the image, so well thought out and executed Paul. The tones are this series are delicious and like you said to me also, your art direction is wonderful. You certainly have a film based mind also and really know how to put use of the subjects at hand.
Paul Vanzella
WOW – great comment Kim – thank you so much… you know I’m a huge fan and this means alot… So happy!

Paul, you know I don’t add many images as a Fav, but wow, this is an amazing piece of work. what I want to know is, where did you find the undercarriage from?

Wow, this is fabulous Paul! I fly weekly with my job and i hate every second of it. Not on the outside, but on the inside. This shot brings to the forefront everyones deep-seeded fear of being in an air crash, and with that the feelings of a total lack of control over their destiny and lives. It might make a good office xmas gift, haha! Awesome work!!!
Heloisa Castro
excellent work
