Awesome composition this is stunning with that Hill there. What a wonderful perspective. Awesome treatment.

Paul, You certainly are getting about in the UK – London, York, are you hitting the main cultural cities? I have to say I like how the clouds have cast their shadows on the hill
It’s amazing to think that you are just over an hour away from me – I love York and this image is truly beautiful – it has that wonderful surreal feel that you always achieve so perfectly.
Great Image Mr PVZ… Love the layered elements and the dash of red tucked behind the hill…. Also like the narrative to this.. Looks like it could be a (coloured) scene from ‘Ian Curtis / Control’.... (battling through the early eighties.)
haha… This is really cool… I love how you’ve framed this Paul. It gives it an absurd feeling. Why is that lady photographing a plain green hill? Must be the light…. I love light shadowed by clouds. Love all this.
Gee!....I like this one, the sky is so pretty, it’s wierd, and the permanant hillside partially reflecting the skies tones mocks the skies transience, and then between the two you’ve got people and their buildings, great.

awesome colors i love it

If it weren’t for the humans I’d say this was not real, Incredible
A few people have asked what the hill is, etc… As someone who was born in and grew up in York I’ll waffle just a little (also, there’s a couple of links elsewhere here—I know some people can be sensitive about links taking people elsewhere so, Paul, if you tend not to like that, please do feel free to remove this comment, I won’t be offended).
The hill you see is the motte that Clifford’s Tower stands on. It’s also known as “York Castle” and is also the location generally known as “The Eye of York”.
It’s probably one of the most photographed locations in York and what I really like about this image is that it’s something very different.
I’ve been to Clifford Tower, but it was midst the flooding last July and it was a very different scene. Once again you’ve shown a great eye, love it Paul!
Wonderful Image, I just love the way you’ve captured those clouds. I’m guessing this is Cliffords Tower as York is normally as flat as a billiard table.
So I read a few of the comments here first, in particular Daves one linking to Cliffords Tower. You know what is just so damn cool about this image for me? The fact that instead of taking the classic “tourist” shot of the tower you focussed on the tourist herself. She seems so tiny and insignificant next to that dominating hill that you could almost miss her at first glance… if not for the superb line of the hill itself leading you directly to her… and that ingenious splash of red on that little bus that draws your eye straight to her ;)
This is a very bizzare image, I find it sort of spooky like the hill is about to move, or that shadowing on its side is a precursour of something more sininster about to happen. Well done, I like your work
This is a really great shot. Even if the woman was not taking the picture this is one extraordinary hill, it’s really like that yeah? Is this in York the city? Really wonderful image Paul.
I wont pretend to know a thing about photography, but I think I like your work so much because it shares a delicate quality of an oil painting, finished with a lush glaze. There’s a sense of nostalgia in your images. They make make my mouth water!!
Love where this image takes you…..love the surreal feel to this…where is that person walking to and I wonder why the mother is taking a photo of that hill…...perhaps taking her back…to a special time…..ahhhh memories!!

Amusingly Paul seems to have taken his image just around the corner of one I took earlier last year that showed people photographing the hill.

Yes the colours are fantastic and it does have a surreal feel to it. Love how much of the hill is included in this shot. It makes the shot!

Usual lovely work Paul. Has a little twist that i like.
Not something you would think to capture but something you see everyday. Love it.
Darren Burdell
Love the way you resisted the temptation to include the tower, it just gives this such a surreal twist, very cool!
Dan Shalloe
The title is so very good, as is this image. I love compositions like this where a tiny detail somewhere in a corner changes the whole thing.

Interesting composition. I like the cloud shadow on the hillside. Red bus is a plus. cool shot
H M Bascom
Unusual but very appealing composition. I just love that little red bus in the left background.
Aaron .
Very eye-catching – the angle of the hill really accentuates the focal point and done with those ubiquitous ‘Vanzella-esque’ tones .
studiomunch
Great lighting, I love the shadow of the clouds on the hill.
