Sadness
When we are sad we feel insignificant…. spaced out – and can’t see the glorious world in front of our faces… just for a moment… and then it passes and you see it all again…. this image represents that moment in time, with a pure expanse of aesthetics in front of the figure completely lost in his own sadness.
_and for an insight by Andrew Walker into the very creative mind and inner workings of the vanzella mind read the following

love the square format and the cropping here !
red rulez !
Halcyon007, 7 months ago
Once again the image is unmistakeably yours Paul. The lighting has definately been touched by the hand of Vanzella.
The orange shirt, railings and cones are almost too much to be a co-incidence and the composition of it gives both depth in detail and an immense scale which must be difficult to achieve
Deborah Parkin, 7 months ago
this is an incredibly moving image – very poignant and thought-provoking. I love the simplicity of it too – the creams with this splash of orange and the lines too – i love the way the line cuts across the picture with the man left in isolation and above, behind teh windows we get a sense of another world going on without him. Like i say – very powerful – and just brilliant.

Another gem mate! The framing and colorisation are just hypnotising!
For me personally, the whole thing is tied in by that beautifully angled rope, I love it! :D
Andrew Walker, 7 months ago
Mrs Vanzella stood there feeling slightly embarassed. How would she explain the appearance of the large grey ship in her family group picture, still it was going to be easier to explain if she managed to get it in focus. Would Paul let her near the camera again? and more importantly where had the kids gone, she had only said step back a bit as a joke!
Benjamin Scheurer, 7 months ago
Paul….what can I say….first of all: The way you framed this shot is SENSATIONAL.
The lines are a treat for the eyes. Your description fits so well….master piece.

BLOODY HELL VANZELLA! This is so freakin good it blows me away! Your framing is impeccable, the tones are sensitive to the subject matter presented… Those little splashes of colour add the right amount of tension to the scene and the portholes… too good for words! what more can i say? loving the Vanzella style as usual!

wonderful, unique treatment. great control & color choices. Can always count on you for smarts and instinct, my friend… This is right up there with “The Tourists.” And it doesn’t get much better than that. Boy, this is fun to look at. A deceptively simple feast. bravo!

Wow! This is stunning Paul! I love the simplicity of this.. the muted tones contrasting with the orange is perfect… what a composition! I’m guessing that this is a cruise liner, which adds to the story of sadness.. a feeling that there is a sad farewell going on here.. Fantastic work!

Love this shot Paul – to me it says sometimes we can’t see what’s in front of us as we are so wrapped up in our own world. The windows almost seem to be eyes looking down on this sad soul with sympathy….the limited use of colour and composition works very well.

The sadness is that so many of us don’t even see the glorious world that is there in front of our faces even when we are not sad – but I’m so unsad to have found a place such as RedBubble that aims to show those of us who may have forgotten where to look, the beauty in the world that is out there for all to see :o)

very poetic words. if you are into picture books at all (im a english language/lit teacher), there is a grand picture book by the aussie picture book guru sean tan who pretty much portrays such visions through his/self made illustrations….please look at his book the red tree and you’ll be very inspired. not that you already lack inspiration. i love this shot.

Very Jeffery Smart/Edward Hopper-ish. There’s a new book out with his unreleased paintings. I always thought Jeff Kennett was a fan of Jeffery Smart as many of the construction projects during his time in office ended up looking the work of that artist (such as the big yellow cheesestick)
