I love this sign of consumerism which has been successful in branding a country but not reaping any benefits for their people! – Just take, take & take until nothing is left… Interesting juxtapositioning – The man looks of an upper-class status?
Wow Paul. I don’t want to sound like a ‘crawler’ but I just love your work. You’ve inspired me to ‘play’ a little more with Photoshop and I want to thank you for that. Seems to me one of the thibngs that’s just so great about RB. Thanks.
the perfectly ironed trousers with thongs and the symbolism of decayed Western culture are just brilliant juxtapositions. Doesn’t the guy just look serene and full of self-esteem. I love the contrasts and colours of the Indian subcontinent – you’ve captyred it superbly
This is great, India has so much culture both traditional and capitalist in another sense which makes an interesting hybrid. Our western culture has given them “Coke” while on the other hand they have given us “Karma” The intense red and composition of this shot is great – can we expect any more india shots?
This is wonderful. I love the degraded consumerism either side of the man and the muted colours are fab. My only niggle Paul, and it’s the slightest of slights is his foot being cut off. Great shot.
Excellent photojournalistic work here, Paul! Terrific exposure. (how the heck is his shirt so clean over there?!!) Looks pretty dusty…heh. This is awesome. Old meets new.
I really hope you don’t mind me saying this, but I’d so love seeing some more “straight” photography from you such as this image. There are some wonderful examples on your website, just speaking for myself, I’d be really interested to see more. The processed work is nice but it’s a bit like stepping into someone’s closed fantasy world, whereas the photography is like looking at the outside world through someone’s eyes. It’s just so much more interesting, at least to me.
