How did you resist the urge not to push that wheel LOL. I love the way you find that negative space and turn it into a masterpiece!! that sky looks painted, fantastic work PV.
Why on earth would a giant blue reel and a bunch of what look like bombs half buried be doing on a hill!! whatever the reason… I love asking the question! :D I really like how the shadow on one of the ‘bombs’ makes it look like theres a number 7 on it. And then the ‘witnesses’ add perspective and something very special. Just surreal… yet everyday!! And of course I love it!!
Your work always bowls me over, Paul. Your landscapes appear to be a product of story books, but what stories they are! The questions they make me ask are probably stranger than the answers I’d get and the worst thing is I waste too much time trying to deconstruct the images rather than enjoy them for their surreal and engaging qualities….this one is going to keep me guessing for quite awhile, I think! Awesome work!!
Really amazing image. My first thought was that those things on the right were missiles about to be ground to dust by that big wheel… Did you shoot this at the same time as this or did you go back to that plantation again?
Fascinating image Paul! everything, -the path, people, clouds & grass, brings the eye right to those what-the-heck-are-they giant objects. A ginormous reel and a collection of missiles? love this. It leaves us, like the people in the image, saying “what the heck?”. The answer being “I don’t know” but you make it look absolutely intriguing & fantastic!
They appear to be waiting for it to roll and mow down the pins…....classic style Paul, love the illustrative treatment on yet another superb page in your book. Excellent image, gorgeous clouds and tones…...
Sensational image Paul, you should enter it into the Dali surreal competition. For complete entry terms and conditions follow the link http://albrecht.ngv.vic.gov.au/surrealproject/ Cheers, Rock
Awesome contrast in size between the objects and the people. Wonderful leading line drawing one into the image! Makes one contemplate man vs industry… as always great processing!
Such odd elements. Landscape photography for sure but what landscape is this? Like out of a dream, yes that’s it… a dreamscape! A dreamscape. You have quite the eye maistro Vanzella!
there’s so much about this i like .. the huge reel bellowing down to roll over the (unlucky) number 7 .. again, a brilliant capture and story all produced in true PV style.
Love to know what’s going through their minds…... Fab treatment, you make the most out of every opportunity, your eyes must be everywhere when you travel !! Know that feeling. Love your style !
...too kind, and you’ve summed me up in one! LOL! Sometimes I’d like to just enjoy and relax, but I’m always wanting to frame and piece the world as I like it.. I would think you are the same… : ))
Michael Kienhuis
