The Distant Stare of Resolve

Paul Vanzella

The Distant Stare of Resolve

Sinking into the rubble, from the ankles up…
there was no escaping physically or mentally…

Huge thank you to RavenSoul for helping make this concept a reality, and for her amazing eye behind the lens. Thank you Vonne for your art direction and many images at this amazing location – how can I forget my time in Oklahoma!

Conceptually confronting…sadly too often a living reality; I particularly like the ambiguity of this image. For me this is not about the physical environment constraints, it is about the emotional and mental. The self fulfilling powerless stare.

    Wonderful work.

  • Tracey Mac

    Tracey Mac

The symmetry does it for me…...that and the wonderful lighting, tones and the sense of feeling totally overwhelmed with the world disintegrating around you is powerful….......fantastic collab both of you…....

    To Paul.

My friend – these ideas are introspective – Paul … staggering with a psychic pull into one’s own FUSION of fantasy / dream states / nightmares … taking the viewer forward – deeper into their own heads then this continues in post memory.

    ... mind films – form … !

This work has that unique and powerful psychological effect.

    FANTASTIC – Paul.

    Kirrill.

this evokes a myriad of reactions….lost (inside yourself, inside the crumbling house), exposed, vulnerable, stoic. The shadow you cast up the stairs is long and dark – like the human mind. A stunning image and deeply sexy.

  • ÒjÓ_ Magico

    ÒjÓ_ Magico

A very creative concept, incredible how all 4 points of the frame lead directly to the figure because of camera view and perspective inviting the viewer to go down the stairs. amazing work!

I gazed at this for such a long moment. What is the round object on the top of the stairs? The colour of the peeling paint is pretty, I like this shade of aquamarine blue and the deep vignette effect adds so much dimension.
