i just love this, my almost 4 yr old gran just left, she wanted oopha to take her to mcdonalds, not to eat but to play. one of those oh no i dont have my cam, and the pout. so this is stunning. i can feel how blue your babe feels. we are going to get a large snowfall tonight, i cant wait and looking at clouds, to gran to this is such perfection. this is a classic shot that is totally unique to you and always ahead of it and get it just right. great shot

This is a wonderful portrait Paul. I love the post-processing you have done on it to give Siena an almost porcelain doll finish, it’s just beautiful. I recognise that expression from having had two daughters myself! Life is tough when you are young and want everything NOW! It made me smile….and I’m sure she will too in years to come when she looks back at it.

It’s funny how kids think situations like this are the worst things that can happen in life! That Salt n Pepper squid must be pretty god hey? What can I say… another PVZ classic… you have such a way of capturing the ‘decisive moment’ and the lighting combined with post treatment makes it so ethereal and really accentuates the mood here… As they say it’s all in the eyes and facial expression… Brilliant!

I can’t quite put my finger on why this disturbs me. Maybe it’s just the sight of a child in distress, maybe it’s the colours that remind me of somewhere darker and colder. Myabe it’s those icy blue eyes that could be seeing or thinking anything.

Paul, I’ve looked at this picture several times… then came back to it several times more… each time I looked for the factor that separated this shot from any other shot of a daughter in a restaurant waiting for her salt n pepper squid—aside from your post pro treatment which I really dig as I do the others you’ve done in this style.

Then I came back to it again now and I think I finally realize why I like it so much. It’s the level you shot it at. Rather than snap the picture from your comfortable sitting position, you got down to her level… so you’ve put her anguish in context of her reality. Not the way we as adults would look at her problem (ie, stop pouting, sit up and get your elbows off the table!), but the way she feels it because you’ve brought us into her world by shooting straight on and not down to her. Maybe I’ve missed the point and got the whole thing wrong, but it’s small nuances like this that often unconsciously make an image more real and have more of an impact on us even thought we don’t always know why. Am I being silly with this?

In any event, it’s a cool and unique take and I love it to bits. Nice work. Business as usual from da master!

The girl’s face is reminiscent of a china doll. Through the cold tones on her face, and the cool light on her eyes, it gives me a feeling of being troubled. Perhaps she’s reflecting on conflict in the family structure.

Have been looking at it and I think the angle is good in this image. The whites in the sweater are locally too white so the pixels go dead. I also have a slight problem with the skincolour. In my believe it’s too blueish. When I look at the overall PP-treatment I find a lot dodge and burn. I think if you use a more subtile treatment the skin-and tissuetextures look better and more natural. Of course everything is personal and so is my comment. Kind regards, Ruadh.
