hmmm i wonder which one is Jo ‘no clothes’..... wait a minute…. no… i’m not sure y’know. Paul, is she the one with the red marks on her trousers from prolonged rubbing of her balls? bet she can’t wear a box with underwear like that on
I have it on good authority that ‘the cricketers’ is the name of a public house in Hampshire where they developed a bat and ball game based on the siege of a castle. never realised that it still was played… tell me is that Ian Botham on the left???
rsmac
I am sure this would increase viewing numbers!!
Heather Rivet...
original:D
Mark Hayward
Love the strange and interesting juxtaposition between the subjects; very obviously melancholic (English?) players, versus what I read as a celebratory, victory dancing nude…(Australian perhaps?!) Nice piece Paul.
Brainlick

What a comment. What a shot.
Perhaps it’s not all the fault of our sports men. Perhaps we, society, are to blame too. We thrust them, ill prepared and simple, into limelight and scrutiny. If they win, we cheer. When they fail, we gloat. Perhaps it’s the loss of simple anonymity or the pressures on their families.
Perhaps some of them loathe what they become, what their peers become.
Antanas
LOL…....., perfext expression…
Sparky
Very Rockwellian….. i Love the idea that NOTHING can save this day but a tall COLD one or two.
The nature of sports in general-seconds of excitement surrounded by endless moments of banality.
You captured it well!
anthonytsteel

love the light in this, very soft, but what is that girl doing there, fab shot anyway.
THE LIGHTING IN THIS IS GREAT. how did you do it. was it done with the camera or the computer. Can not get over the lighting.
Sarah Moore
as a cricket widow for many years i am sure that this would have made cricket a whole heap more interesting to watch!!
Colin Powell
only a cricketer could be so oblivious to such lovely curves! – love the light and treatment – another great composition.
Lisa Jewell
For me this is one of your very bests….
Surreal blueish light….

Also I am with you LOVE the game, roll on summer and the cricket at the G.
Hans Kawitzki
if cricketers would look and dress like the one on the left perhaps I too would stay awake watching the game.
Fantastic work Paul as always a pleasure to look at.
Basia McAuley
Well… cricket has just gained a new fan base! Superb image Paul! Love the capture of the bored looks on their faces, love the processing and the light. Brilliant.
Lance Leopold
I like quite a few,did not notice the woman in the shot at fist glance, and as a red blooded male i can honestly say, that in this case the image stands perfectly on its own without her,as we are all familiar with “the look” of losing, this image says it to perfection, love everything about it,lighting, pose, processing and mood, well done,as always,Paul.
victor
Ahhh….... can we have a version with the kangaroo, as well,... an’ all ?
Deri Dority
This really strikes a humor chord!! Really well done!
Charles McKean
Fab
Juilee Pryor
I’ve had to think carefully about this shot. I love the guys and the pensive meloncholy air they are exuding but not that sure it needs the nude. In fact I find her a bit distracting and gratuitous. Not sure it adds that much to what other wise is a great portrait shot.
skunk
Didnt she have her knickers pulled down earlier?
Was she feeling a tad exposed lol
Killer Calf muscles
Enrico Bettesw...
Paul… You’ve done it again! great concept, superb lighting and brilliant execution… well done!
shawhouse
nice work.
Douzy
Lol I just came back to this shot to tell you I think she should have her knickers on at least, and here she is with them on lol!!! I agree with some of the guys here saying this pic could have stood on hits own without her, but I don’t mind it with the knickers on, a bit less “in the face” but still cheeky.
lawrencew
Ahh… a maiden padding up for another over… who’ll duck?
Deliciously barbed or should I say, pointed.
Andy Harris
clever composition Paul, love the disinterested looks on the cricketers faces!
John Robb
I always knew Steve Waugh had a red handkerchief for luck but I never realised what he wore under his creams as well.
Darren Stones
Those knickers have definitely been pulled up. Beaut work, Paul & co.
Paul Gibbons
Another fantastic shot, brilliant work.
Suzanne German
wow paul – this looks so smooth! colours – lighting – expressions – almost like a portrait!
great shot (and I don’t like cricket even!)
Andrew Brown
Wow, interactive Redbubble. Nickers down in the morning, nickers up at night.
Steve Axford
So I wasn’t imagining the amazing dissappearing pants. Cricket is such an absorbing game, neither did the cricketers.
nitrams
Fab lighting effect. Great shot. I would have to assume these are Brits!!!!!!! If that’s what they have on their minds, no wonder they can’t win The Ashes. LOL. I’m a Brit and I’m allowed to say that, I think!
caseycastille
This is so very interesting – a toothy image! There’s so much to it. I love the colors and tones. It has a feeling similar to an Edward Hopper painting, and just a touch of surrealism and moonlight.
Steven Sandner
lol! that would make it more interesting! damn i would even consider playing cricket under those circumstances!
orourke
well done paul, really nice blue tone and great idea, would get me into cricket big time

BySilent
Excellent imagery
Deon de Waal
So this is wht South Africa can never play cricket when they get to Aus. Distractions in the change room.
:)
Excellent shot paul.Love the light on the players.
Jo O'Brien
When I see works of art like this I realise how redundant models are – what you have here are actors. Look at those faces, how emotive they are. And then you step in and create this solemn and slightly surreal world where nothing is as it first appears. The light and texture in this adds so much to the image. Fantastic work.
bluerabbit
LOL! This is classic! I love it!
Peter Davidson
Great, strong image – like all your work. Impressed.
Hazel
I knew a cricketer once…I would love to have done this to him…...thrown him right of his game
Great shot

Mel Brackstone
I had to come back and comment again, I think this is the one that I like best out of your Jo series, it just strikes a chord with me. The colours, the positions of everyone, the looks on those guy’s faces, as if they just lost the game and NOTHING else matters….this is priceless Paul, just priceless.
Mel Brackstone
Oh yeah, the cards look great, this blue translates so well!
Marvin Tunstall
Great shot!
Marvin Tunstall

drjones
I like!!! My best friend would love this!!!
Tom Smith
i thought cricket couldn’t be made better than it already was….as it happens i like the idea of the dressing room stripper, yano just to calm the nerves
Paul Vanzella
replied
thanks Tom – yes, one can get very nervous on the way out to bat….
linaji
this is so impressive Paul.. I missed this in your collection and decided to make a visit ..something calling.. this gives me a sense of the possibilities of how one may need to concentrate.. by letting go! and the comment by Tom above and your reply makes sense.. your work really speaks and the tones always always I lean from.
simonesphotos
LOL, this is brilliant Paul, anyone my brothers spent so many weekends in their “whites”. Just love the treatment, you really are a visual magician!
Robert Armstrong
Absolutely fantastic work! :-)
Earhart Chappe...
to be honest paul. my eyes were drawn to the players. took me a few moments with your tones to notice the corner.. and that was only after i read the side! as your light, tones, everything was just puling my eye to the players. esp the middle one.—-chappel
Paul Vanzella
replied
wow – what a great appraisal – as this is exactly how I want the piece to be viewed.. thank you SO MUCH!!!!

...Now I know why cricket players rub their balls…
blueeyesjus 12 days ago
Brilliant, like Earheart my attention was focussed on the players expressions and forlorn body language and those cool blue tones that wash over the image makes it feel almost like a dungeon hence their combined misery, a great contrast to what we expect on those sizzling hot days at the cricket. And I havent even mentioned “those” legs, fantastic work Paul
