He uses his teeth not his eyes ,otherwise he would have seen the not walk sign.
Mel Brackstone
Oh my….a classic Vanzella here!
Maybe shazza needs to see this guy, she’s always on about the dentist :)
Torfinn Johann...
Great one Paul!
Rose Moxon
beautiful shapes in this one. nicely ordered.
retsilla
Great clean image. Nice one.
I notice they are green cones.
JimFilmer
walks to work?...a dentist?...mustn’t be a very good one… probably the whole point… he misses every chance to take x-rays, perform root canal treatment, etc…..
and by the way Paul, great image with all these incredible shapes
John Shortt-Smith
Nice!

Love the green! Your attention to detail is wonderful. Your dialogue is strong as always – love art that gets me pondering :)

Daniel Rayfield

Rob the dentist? Isn’t he only ever preoccupied with his mirror? LOL
Classic style Paul….excellent POV and capture….
Classy image.

Green and serene, just what I need. Repeating patterns of trees and cones, long shadows, and wonderful flat tones all combine to provide a calming and very satisfying scene! You have the most amazing talent Mr V!
Shanina Conway
He strides like a man committed to his work….agh! ....Love your eye, and the way you handle light;)
Juilee Pryor
just love those shapes….. so bitey in their apparent stillness…..classic image Paul

Dentists frighten me, however this is an endearing image….........vintage PVz
Phil Thomson IPA
Classic, Vintage Vanzella, as always, Paul !!!! A wonderful blend of lighting, colours, shapes, toning and determination in that stride !!! BTW, hope there aren’t any cops ready to book him for jaywalking, also why is he wearing his uniform outside the surgery? Is he running a ‘sidewalk/carpark business’ or doesn’t hygiene/health laws apply to him? Also agree with Jim – a dentist with no ‘flash wheels’ cant be making too much money !!
sweetscent62
Hmmmm… what jumped out at me..is the symetry in this.. the rows of cones..the rows of trees…. Like TEETH! I also noticed that there are no other people around, perhaps they ran when they saw him! I know I would… Dentists scare the hell out of me! It can’t be easy being a dentist… a very interesting peice PV : ) as usual. well done! Wen x
Colleen Milburn
Fabulous lines, Paul – very fifties looking image – well done :-))
Mark Hayward
BRING IT BACK Paul BRING IT!! ...lol ; )
Christopher Bi...
looks like a set from the film Mon Oncle – Jacques Tati. great image!
billyboy
What I can`t believe is that nobody`s made the correlation with the teeth… there`s teeth everywhere in this image. And he probably DOES notice them, and feels like pulling those fckin’ green bicuspids out of the ground every time he walks past. In fact, he`s already seen to it that the tops of the trees are filed flat. He likes order in his life… you can see this in hihs stride. In fact, he probably doesn`t want to pull those cones at all. I reckon he`s carefully landscaped the whole scene and it cost him so much he`s had to sell the Merc, which is why he`s walking to work…
Paul, I so love your stuff and how it makes me ponder. You are simply awesome!
billyboy
sorry… Sweetscent did notice. I should read more than I babble!!!
victor
nature is wonderful
Bruce Watson
Maybe he had a couple of cones already. Very nice Paul. Strange ambience indeed. Giorgio Di Chirico visits Canberra or something. Amuses me in a disquieting way – like laughing in a police car.
dimsim
omg you f**ing what? where on earth did you find this? how can you get so much depth of field? wow! :o
butchart
you put him where he should be… or found him there….. between rows of teeth … tall green ones .. and short badly spaced greener ones…........ and him in the middle of all that green… love the symbolism i find here…....... b
David Symons
Hilarious Paul. You have the comic eye of Jacques Tati.
amorspainter

Jennifer Woodward

Hop Dac
far out, paul, this is frikken great!
Dave Hiskey
good one, Paul…
Mark Ross
If I didn’t know better, I’d imagine you were a graphic designer perhaps Paul. Who else could create such an intense sense of design sophistication as you do? The fact that you also do postwork that is the very equal of your design work is almost too much to handle, lol! I still love you even if you’re too good to be true! Great piece!
:7D
Elaine van Dyk
Love the neat, crispness of your work, Paul…......this is just great, the sole human being demanding attention slap-bang in the centre between the bottom third and middle third area, the trees like rows of green teeth, and the spiky green cones like rows of green teeth all surrounding him…....... Wonderful sense of isolation.
morpheus71
Great work Paul
eyeonu
He does notice them but keeps it a secret, as he gets off on those erect green pointy cones and those tall slender trees, they give him the sexual high he requires before he reaches his surgery and looks into the mouths of his patients, as there he has to contain his emotions, there is no place for a dentist with a fascination with masturbation using green dental floss.
eclectica
Wow this is so evocative – I’m seeing all things fifties and sets of teeth everywhere. Very unique are just brilliant!
Deborah Hally
love this so much…such a unique vision!!

BF (a dentist) is off to a 5 day conference tomorrow. First thing packed: Golf Clubs!
Fabbo image PV… love the pointy green fang-like shapes all through it… they remind me why I chose NOT to study dentistry! Love ya work! : ))
Astoreth
all dentist’s are…..strange….better not say too much…..they also all play feckin’ golf!! don’t ask me why….it’s a VERY stressful job!
Heather Rivet...

Paola Jofre
there is so much to see :) he better hurry up does he not see the no walking sign….brilliant work Paul….LOVE your work!!! :)
mstrace
okay, I just gotta ask…are those cones for real? or did you put them there. this kinda vanzella work is so classic and so…surreal. You know those beautiful miniature renderings of buildings/streets/malls/airports, etc that Architects use to create 3D images of their plans? Thats what these photographs look like…meticulous, directed, as if everything in the image was placed there with precision and forethought. its fantastically creative.
socalgirl
Love the green cones with the green trees and his purposeful gait. As always, wonderful work.
Karin Taylor
great work Paul
Reminds me very much of jeffrey smart

Lurve your use of geometric shapes in this Paul, even in his walk…strong imagery
rumbarber
beautifully surreal scene – fits the crisp, clean world of the dentist.
raintina
Where do I buy a ticket to Vanzella Land? Your images always have a bit of the surreal. I wonder how one expands the mind as far as you do without enhancers. This is a wonderful image from what seems a different time and space. Thank you for sharing your gift.
Gerijuliaj
Everything.
luis ferreiro
Killer image.
Anne McGinn

He apparently didn’t notice you while you took this photograph. :-) I like those cylindrical trees in the background. The cones and the trees create an interesting repeating pattern

He is obviously so used to working with smaller pointy things that he completely overlooks large pointy things :) This is so funny.
majo
he doesn’t notice he’s walking in a yet another perfect vanzella-picture
Linda Bianic
Hey, it jsut so happens that I am in the dental field,,,,,maybe he doesnt notice because his brain is thinking of all the scientific and technological wonders he can use to give you a beautiful smile and a healthy mouth…..and its is stressful…. have you ever wondered how you would feel if all your clients tell you , every time,, that they’d rather not be there, and they dont like you??
Or,, he could be thinking of the links!!!
Great shot!!
Mark Richards
Just superb Paul, brilliant in production, great angles and lines, very geometric, and love the green hazard hats!

I love this. It has an EGGLESTON feel to it, in its straightforwardness, somewhat deliberate, flattened tonal range, and ‘ordinary’ subject matter. Seeing beauty and art in the ‘ordinary’ when most of us see nothing. I think it’s a bold photo, and a hugely successful one.
