You know, when I first emigrated here, I thought…do Australians really know how lucky they are to have been raised here ..now I’ve been here for a few years..I think ..they damn well should do !
ps…this is my first Australia Day as an Australian Citizen …so Happy Australia Day for tomorrow !
KiwiAna

Gorgeous tones and perfect composition.

A gorgeous golden celebration of Australia Day. Love the colour, composition and the relationship between the three youths on the yellow sand. Australia at its most beautiful. I agree we do have a lot to be optimistic about. Happy Australia Day Paul :)
HenkStolk
Great sky and colors
Alf Caruana
Once again a superb execution. the contrasting yellow in the foreground feels like you can step right into this one and join these men. Your composition, the use of DOF and the overall feel of a beautiful landscape painting, really gives us all something to aspire to. Bravo!

Great Image Mate OPTIMISM A GREAT STATE OF MIND

Jeeze, that cloud is like a massive wave!
I love the way you get your subjects to stand out against their backgrounds and the way you set them out in your unique compositions. Great Vanzella tones in distinct layers using your own rule of thrids… or fouths or fifths… whatever it is it works cause I can`t take my eyes off…
Awesome work Paul!
Lorraine Creagh
The colours, tone and composition. So easy to look at. Love it.
Benjamin Scheurer
Hi Paul,
I absolutely LOVE how the three persons are framed between ocean and land.
cheers,
Ben

Beautiful work Paul – just Sublime ;)
Jim Robertson
Love the almost double horizon, the leading angle and the positioning on the thirds. Oh, and the title :)
Phil Thomson IPA
Brilliant work, as always, Paul !!! Wonderful composition, excellent complimenting tonal and colour range and lead ins, and wonderful title that sums it up on two fronts, pertinent to Aussies, that I can see, the hope of rain and the desire for a surf and a swim !!
Mohsen Bayramn...
Fantastic composition study and what a nice use of color tones. creative and so tend, love it’s feeling. and love the simplicity of your photography… we only See what we need to Look.
well done, Paul :)
Mel Brackstone
Oooo….a Paul Vanzella seascape!!!!!! I love it! The sky is so beautiful, with the beautiful cloud shapes and tones, and the layers of colour you’ve produced are sublime. All they need is a little ozzie flag ;)
Ian James
Great shot Paul the composition is spot on the the tones wonderful.

I love the atmosphere you always create – I don’t know how you do it – but it’s so unique and effective. Another winner!
Adrian Richardson
Another great creation.
RavenSoul
At first glance it is so empty and vacant feeling, but then it begins to open up with hope as you see the young men watching and waiting, just enjoying the breeze and the hope of what it to come. Excellent Paul I Adore it!
Glenn Alderson

It was 3 degrees here (fahrenheit) that weekend.
I am envious.
And needless to say the composition is lovely.

Sitting here in the dead of winter with no real warmth from the sun.. This looks hot.. I like hot.. Well shown and a pleasure to view Paul…
Chuck..
Paul Tupman
Stunning work Paul… I love the lines in this. Amazingly straight horizontals, an equally dead straight vertical and then those cool angles in both the railings and the guys legs. Couldn’t ask for more really… but then you have the great colours and processing on top of all of that… phew!
Happy Australia Day!
Mohammad Khaksar
I like the noisy background paul…woah…how adorable…

Sarcasm?! Wonderful commentary
Elaine van Dyk
Paul, what fantastic composition, colours (all that has already been said above). For me it conjures up an immensely strong feeling of the calm before the storm – the contrasts. Those dark clouds, the calm, peaceful sea, the bright golden beach – just wonderful! The anticipation and silence is tangeable.
Lovely work…....Happy Australia Day, Paul.
Bruce Watson
Hey Paul, how much did you pay them to be so well placed in the frame? Jokes aside, great visual irony and compositional integrity in this – combined with the signature Vanzella pallette. I also like the graphic tension created by the ‘flat’ foreground elements seeming at odds with the overwhelming distance of the sea and sky.

Love the balance….symmetry and colour palette here, not to mention the perfectly straight horizon and foreground….makes me want to be there, although I feel as though I am by just looking at this image….

this is a great shot! i love Torquay ;} our very good friends who live in doncaster have a holiday home there. when i was visiting oz, they handed over the keys and let me have a stay while on my way to the great ocean road. such a lovely place!!!! i hope to make it back there again someday soon!
Cathleen Taraw...
Love the space, and the stances you have captured them in, very summer and Australian (and kiwi for that matter).
Alessandro Pinto
Awesome scene.. love the dark sky in contrast with the vivid yellow sand !
MelanieSpeaks
This is a great shot…love the contrast…all works really well
Jennifer Woodward
Just for the sake of this image, I’m glad there were no waves… love the composition and “rules” of this… brilliant! :-)
ltruskett
Yep, only you can make three ordinary looking dudes, looking out to sea under a slighty ominous looking sky, look like it should be hanging in some fancy pants gallery….......... lolol. Love your three strong colours and always love your leanings towards a good subject matter with those perfect intersectional lines…....
AnaCBStudio
I like the treatment and the colors…great work!
Joanne Bradley
A true master of composition! Love the balance in this one and I must say for some reason the cloud formation gives the whole image a quiet sense of motion!
Paul Louis Vil...
Love the seperation of colors here! Your sense of framing always works a treat and the title is perfect. Great job Paul! :D
Rose Moxon
love how this pic shows australia as a land of wonderful personal space and very little overcrowding. beautiful shot.
Colin Tobin
Wonderfully composed Paul. A real treat for the eyes.
Kathryn Potempski
SOMETIMES I HAVE THIS OVERWHELMING URGE TO KICK YOU ,SORRY I JUST HAD TO TELL YOU EVERY TIME I CHECK TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE UP TOO THERE IT IS ANOTHER BRILLIANT COMPOSITION WITH EVERY LITTLE DETAIL JUST RIGHT THAT YOU KNOW YOU JUST HAVE TO AD IT TO FAVS.
Well now that I have that out of my system I can move on ,well done Paul you truly are an inspiration and I just love the little secret dark side :-)))
Naomi Mawson
I agree with Kathryn.
Your work is reminding me of one of Australia’s greatest artists – Jeffery Smart
aglaia b
so love this beach, we use to go down there every weekend as kids.
this piece looks so peaceful. love the way the colours change form bright yellow to a gorgeous turquoise to grey then white then to a moody mixture as they go up the gradation. the figures and title add to the drama. ;-) xox

I have thought about this image long and hard as I get many messages…....yes the storm is rolling in and it is how we handle this….This image actually reminds me of a book called “Who Moved My Cheese” a MUST read and suitable for all ages /actually the Mazda Car Company in Japan/Hiroshima/ used this book in guiding teams through a period of change..dealing with hard times /being prepared and having the courage to change /adapt….....the guys on the left have that huddled together /what is going to happen/well no action on our part so we will just sit here and observe whereas the stance from the guy on the right tells me he knew the storm was coming and started preparing….yes /it maybe a rough ride but if he daily reassesses/stays positive…...knows he will conquer
Paul Vanzella
wow – thank you from the bottom of my heart for this incredible insight shanghaiwu – love what you wrote – and, that book sounds like it needs to be sought out immediately… thank you for sharing your thoughts and time here so much!
Dan Shalloe
This could be used as a still for advertising the film “Perfect Storm”. Extraordinary work and perfectly executed.
