Sea Shells

Another stop at a Greek Port, Cofru I think… I love the fact we dock at these industrial ports, there is just so much to see and take in… my kind of landscape for sure.

This reminds me of something Jeffrey Smart would paint.. those drums and their position in the frame really make it, leading the eyes into the photo. Yeah, great shot Paul!

Great composition, your work is rather inspiring, loving the darks and grays that appear in most of your skylines and the minimilistic yet greatly detailed pieces you create, quite magical.

  • gabryshak

you said cofru, i think so, i humbly submit that it is actually corfu… a beautiful greek island (so small that i was able to rent a moped and drive around the entire island in a day) and the landscape so varied and beautiful all the way around… from red rock and black sand beaches to quiet white sandy coves and windy roads up hilly mountainous regions…LOVED IT! i also visited santorini, which, in my experience, was like visiting a whole other world. can’t wait to go back someday. as always, you bring a unique perspective through your work-
    intriguing and mesmerizing.

  • Jennifer Woodward

    Jennifer Woodward

Paul, your grasp of composition is just perfect. You allow the eye to take in the whole scene (and all it’s detail) without anything overly dominating the shot. It’s like you present the main features in such a subtle way, it allows the viewer to absorb the rest of the image without anything being overlooked, but at the same time, the focus of the shot is left imprinted in the mind. Clever stuff!

  • Paul Vanzellafounder replied

oh my jennifer, just glorious words… deep thank you – this is one of my true favourites – so happy you delved… it’s funny – there were more picturesque scenes around the Greek island, but I just gravitated to this – love the space between the two trucks! Many thanks,
    -paul
