it really is all about the lighting Paul, your style still shines through, but its the way you capture light that captivates the viewer, top drawer work.

  • JimFilmer

    JimFilmer

the reduction in the colour palette has worked very well (again) – you are the master at taking what could have been a hum-drum scene and making it into something to view, to be intrigued by… excellent Paul.

Great shot Paul and lovely treatment, I really like the square crop too, but I think mostly its the wavey patterns of light, first with the edges of the bushes, then the mountains and then the clouds, it all balances beautifully!

Love the delicacy here. The soft, rather pale tones you get while still maintaining that brightness and contrast that’s needed. This image, like all of your work Paul, makes one stop and ponder… what’s going on here? Like a short story with an enigmatic story line. This is your special way of seeing the world and it’s just that, special!

I simply don’t know how you do it – how you make the ordinary seem so amazing. Great capture Paul. Instant fave.

  • billyboy

    billyboy

Paul, leave it to you to do a picture featuring a power line with aviation markers!

But OK, it’s what most of us see over our hedges… more and more these days. Seems advancement of technology and feeding of our creature comforts is creeping up and taking us from behind… sort of like in Man and Machine, but in a slightly more subtle way.

Hope I’m getting your drift here… or maybe power lines will become artistic embellishments… like graffiti on NYC subway cars.

I like that your slightly dull processing makes the intrusion seem to blend in… like we hardly even notice anymore. Paul, stop. You’re making me think again…

  • Paul Vanzellafounder replied

wow Leila – what a beautiful comment.. very high praise.. thank you so much… This was taken in Bright a couple of months ago as we were staying at the meek caravan park whilst attending the Bright Hot Rod run… the shadows on the hills just spoke to me instantly as we first drove up.. love it when things like that happen… thnak you!

You may not know what is in store for you,
    Over the hedge,
Shadows on the mountain tops of your mind
    ease and oldness
blurring into a lush landscape of life,
Here we are in this moment,
planes and cars and burgers to go…
    Stop now..
    I don’t care,
    I have captured this believing,
    between us.
    Linaji 2009…

Paul.. Your work overwhelms my senses .. I feel so humbled by your work. It is the fact that you have found such a definite style that is yours alone yet so much room to move about. I have seen your work everywhere and wanted to stop in and see what I could feel here.. this is my first stop.. so many delicious miles to go.
