Mel Brackstone
Wow Paul, you’ve constructed this so beautifully! What amazing elements you’ve garnered here, the composition is just stunning! Love how the eye moves through the landscape, and the colours and tones are so perfect!
kipishiux

Tracey Mac
Excellent image, love the coloured windsocks….the sky…the people strolling up toward the structure and the earthy hues set this off. The treatment is perfect. Well spotted…
Tania Rose
That’s why you need to turn strangers into friends.
Didn’t those wind socks turn out beautiful. I can’t stop looking at them. Fan-bloody-tastic. Not bad, for a bloke!
PJ Ryan
.. and the wind blows .. changes direction .. things change ..
but it always swings around again .. because it’s the wind .. and i remember once someone sang a song about cool change ..
I love how these two figures are walking toward each other .. through the spaces where the winds direction is obvious .. against the breeze .. and there’s that beautiful large building of love that you have in another image …
this is true Vanzella brilliance xx
H M Bascom
Paul, nice work. The row of windsocks really gives perspective to this piece. Every friend starts out as a stranger.
Mark Richards
I’d love to know your secrets Paul, on how you weave such magic!
Kurt Tutschek
another marvellous processing. excellent as always, paul.
Carmelh
I think it’s there more times than you know…even if just a smile…love the tones and the sparseness of this image!! And boy can I sense that wind!!!!

Your photos are always so surreal feeling. Great job :)

love the way the last windsock seems to be lacking that very thing because of the height….and the connection with the people, awesome treatment, love your style!
Pinhead Indust...
dusty feel to it
Angel Gold
Thats true you cant always rely on it…
But if you dont open your heart and trust you can never grow as a person..
Love the flash of colour with the windsocks against the empty sky.
Shows hope…
Makes the people small insignificant things that are not to be worried about
~ Selle
I love the silky look to those wind socks and the drain pipes.
It never ceases to amaze me how you make so much out of so minimal.
Lisa Defazio
Words fail me – a compelling and magical feel, painterly – bare and rich.
vincent bruno
beautiful and mysterious
Bruce Watson
The title seems to underline the eerie and foreboding atmosphere of the image, where the figures stand insignificantly against the silently tryrannical backdrop of impersonal space and strangely compelling objects. (Jeffrey was so Smart he let Paul Vanzella do the photography!).
Hans Kawitzki
another typical Vanzella stand out image, great
butchart
the wind socks would suggest otherwise…. a delicate balance of an age old query…. again love the light the image is bathed in…........ it takes the viewer to a different dimension of sight and reflection….............. bravo….............b

wow. another stunner. Great great composition, there’s so much you could read into this scene….
Franklin Lindsey
Beautiful Paul. Symbolic perhaps because catching wind like that is unpredictable just like the kindness of strangers. You never know when it comes but it’s a pleasant surprise.

Jake Easley
Very surreal Paul. The treatment and composition almost make it feel otherworldly.
Interesting piece. It makes me think and I like that.
jlynn
Fantastic work!! I’d hope to be the kind stranger.
Walter Colvin
Fantastic work Paul. Great tonal quality.
orourke
true vanzella style, the tones and negative space always work so well for you. not everyone can leave so much negative space and still keep the viewer engaged. well done
Mark Ross
Sheer poetry. Airy, light, delicate, rich, beautifully balanced, lonesome, timeless, magical, All these things. You’ve got something special about you Paul. Everyone gravitates to whatever you do. Me too!

Beautiful!
Joanne Bradley
Beautiful calm image with so much that is interesting and intriguing about it.
Yes, we can’t always rely on the kindness of strangers but to my delight most times they pull through and astound you with how much real heart is out there!
JimFilmer
wonderful Paul – simplicity with great use of “negative space”- wonderful colours- subtle
Christian Hartung
such a simple shot but yet so affective, well done
msgigi
great shot! as a fellow designer i’ve checked out your stuff and your design site. ace work!
laurenrabbit
A nice shot. Somewhat surreal.
Shanina Conway
Love the wide expanse of this….wonderful scene;)
mstrace
I love how in some of your work the sky dominates the frame and anything else going on seems distant or small. It causes the viewer to feel as if they are looking at something beautiful from very far away, yet it has a looming quality that is kinda profound. I also think the wind socks are beautiful.
Robyn Lakeman
The title is so true Paul and your capture and processing are just wonderful. With the large expanse of sky you can really feel the isolation of the two people.
berndt2
Very stylish work!
John Pitman
Sometimes though. Like the lighting in this. The over exposed areas actually add to the impact of this shot. John
Kathryn Potempski
I know this spot well Paul, never seen it like this though ,well done on the comp and your imagination .

There is no such thing as strangers… just friends I haven’t formally welcomed into my heart yet.
ltruskett
This image leads you on the walk with them. Your usual flair for large spaces and small objects combining to create a superb elemental marriage is in full bloom here again. Well done indeed.
Lisa Jewell
The kindness of strangers is one of the beautiful elements we humans can hold dear. So often, I’ve considered that those brief encounters; with a stranger…. that gave a smile or a helping hand, are some of the most poignant moments in my life, ones I do reflect upon. (of course apart from the familiar and family)….
I always enjoy the tones you use, there is such an earthly soul to them.
kcranmer
And yet you continue to blow me away…I can’t get over your perfect tones and each of your images lead such strong story lines…seriously paul…BRAVO!
Adrian Donoghue
Beautifully done Paul, terrific elements and concept.
Lachlan Kent
SENSATIONAL piece of work Paul… just such a strong image!
SNik
Paul, your stunning style and the weird outcome are quite recognizable.
Jeff Burns
Absolutely stunning this is fantastic love the way you see things and portray them this is fabulous Paul
Zaldy Infante
i admire your vision paul! the left structure is boldness without humility. the posts on the right is humility without boldness. the human figures bold to move AND humble in pace – the balance. the slope of the land symbolises that these figures do not regard themselves in high, or on the other side too low, in esteem. the figures are clearly in the light, clothed and walking in righteousness, whereas the building and the posts tip off to darkness. the color of the land symbolic of walking out of barrenness to life and providence.
Zaldy Infante
oh.. yes one other thing I noticed.. provided the figure on the right is a male concludes he is the leader as he has stepped into the promised land; and provided the figure on the left is a female a few steps behind him indicates her support in his leadership and direction. the bold man and the humble woman in unity.
Jennifer Woodward
I really like this, Paul. There’s something hypnotic about it. Excellent! :-)
Phil Thomson IPA
Paul, I commend you on this outstanding image !! I like the feeling of vastness and seeming desolation, and the stance of a person, lost and bewildered, looking in anticipation toward the help of a stranger, that has been blown in by the wind, as answer to a cry for help!!!
leecemee
your work is very interesting. It has a distinct ‘jeffery smart’ flavour to it. (hope you read this as a BIG compliment). there is a very bizarre ‘painterly’ quality to it which i find intriguing… the images seem flat, yet have so much depth…and then there’s the content! wow!
annacuypers
Yes, hypnotic is the word. Love your composition and use of light. Brilliant as always.
Steve Chapple
Quality images. The treatment here is perfect!
