So its heading toward 2:00 am here and I was…just…about….to shut down and try to get some sleep. Nope. Not gonna happen. See, cuz I had to go and hit that ‘refresh’ button on the bubble activity page one last time. And here I am, like Pavlov’s dog.

I love the black and greenish blue coloring…liquid and deep and thick. I love that his bum (besides just being a fine bum) seems to be in visual harmony with the butterfly-boned shape of his back. I love that he seems to be emerging from a watery surface unto what might be more solid depth. Perhaps then not departing as much as, arriving and becoming?

Great shot you have here, hot-rod bod.

I’M BLIND!!!! LOL! Excellent work Paul! The darker image on top draws more attention to the eye and imagination. The turquoise color is perfectly faded into the darkness! Perfect title, makes you wonder where the hell is he going!

No butts about it Paul… you are an Adonnis! Like me, one can see you like to eat. Kidding asside(?) this is umm… a curious work. Usually, you see the main subject as the lighter shade and the reflection as the darker. You like to turn things upside down, yes? Much of your work is enigmatic and slightly unreal. I think that’s what makes it so unique, not to mention everything else you bring to bear. This work could be emblematic of probably anything one would like to see in it. From male sexuality to the struggle with one’s self to the birth of humanity, etc. It’s a painterly image, one that reminds me of the work of Dali but also of Michaelangelo, particularly of the Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes. Not a bad reference, yes? Great quality of lighting (a highlight ;>{) in all your work) and great mastery per square inch of surface. Very impressive photograph Paul!

  • twinkletwinkle

I love this Paul! You’ve transformed this into a powerful and almost Darwinesque/ evolutionary metaphor. Desperately crawling away from himself, this man tries to escape the inescapable shadow, and yet, this shadow-reflection is more real than the self that is escaping him!

  • Rebecca MacNaughton

The only possible element more outstanding than this sublime nude of you, Paul, is that there are TWO of you to admire…....and I like to think this single image, made of two of you, very well explores the two people you are, as it were, the both sides of you, equally complex…..........and both SO beautiful and trandscendent…

  • Paul Vanzellafounder replied

your words are beyond beautiful and kind to me Rebecca – thank you so much for seeing so much…!
