The typo in the title is deliberate… although the nice folks at the National Portrait Gallery fixed it for me anyway.

This was shortlisted in the National Portrait Gallery’s “National Youth Self Portrait Prize”, and has been on display in Canberra for the last couple of months. Now that the exhibition has finished and I’ve got the original back at home I’m trying to work out what I am going to do with the it.

It is a high quality canvas Giclee print, in somewhat different proportions to this version. The original is about a square metre (I’ll get back to you with the exact dimensions.) The print wraps around the frame, and despite its size, is quite light.

Make an offer?

Paul is the physical location of a collection of otherwise disparate neurons and synapses that occasionally give a convincing impression of consciousness and free will as they react to the various stimuli in their immediate surroundings in a purely mechanistic, non magical way.

Amazing work Paul, congratulations. I say hang it in your living room and hold staring competitions with yourself.
