I get the kind of enjoyment from doing art (drawing and painting – among other forms of art) that comes naturally from my soul. I have done art in one area or another for as long as I can remember – the number of years…unimportant. ‘Colorado grown’ ~ I now do my work in my studio on a 100 year old farmstead in No. Central Kansas. My art consists mostly of animals, people, and I sometimes do narrative portrait work in both. An occasional landscape or still life may come across the easel. I am heavily into photography and mainly paint from my own photos, as well as ‘en plein air’. I am adamantly attracted to what light does to color and I attempt to show the viewer my same reaction to it. Many have said I have an inconsistency to my subject and the treatment thereof with my art. Perhaps it’s because I have a broad interest in art history and technique/experimentation. I work in pastel (my first love), oil, watercolor and something new – digital painting on my iPad. I sometimes have to pinch myself, as I am able to paint or do art everyday.
