City of Seven Hills

Rome, Georgia is known as the City of Seven Hills just like its big sister city in Italy. Rome was voted the #1 small city in the Southeast and was named one of Forbes Best Places in 2007.

This image was taken on a summer day from the top of historic Myrtle Hill Cemetery, which overlooks downtown Rome. The early citizens of Rome chose hills for cemeteries because of the flooding of Rome’s three rivers.

Wonderful perspective ,l guess you would’nt want a cemetary where it floods, you’d never know what might float by ! lol l am glad they chose the hills for there resting places ! Is what we are looking at in the foreground a top of a crypt or a monument marking the cemetary ?

  • Patricia Montg... replied

Yes, it is a monument over the top of a crypt. I was on the very top of the hill and the crypt is built into the side of the hill. The monument is on the roof. Very observant, Trudi! (And thank you so much for always being so supportive of my work!)

For some reason patricia I don’t remember these being notified on my watchlist…... has anyone else made comment like this? I am sure i wouldn’t have missed them!

  • Patricia Montg... replied

I think Hilary Dougill mentioned something last week about having a lot of trouble with some of her watchlist images not showing up in the activity monitor. It must be an intermittent RB problem. Thanks so much for your comments!
