Frozen Sea Monster Hydra by

Visited the Hydra not running away….it was a bit cold but worth to see the amazing ice sculptures! Real frosty magical adventure!

A forty-strong team of ice sculptors from all over the world gathered in Zwolle and worked all-out to turn 250,000 kilos of ice and 250,000 kilos of snow into the most amazing sculptures. It took them weeks, wielding chain saws, chisels, rasps and cutters to perfect everything down to the finest detail.

The whole cold show is housed in a thermal tent measuring 2,000 square metres. The temperature is kept at a constant eight degrees below freezing, which is the ideal temperature for preserving the ice.

Very cool shot Patjila, in every sense of the word.
I love Ice sculptures, a real art in itself.
(see, by the time i’d chisel my way around, the other side would have melted.)
Bet that was some show to see but well done on your shot anyhow, it’s enough to make me purple with envy. A fav for my file. COLLEEN2012
