I met this lovely and friendly lady during the Historic Festival in Raalte Holland. She loved to pose for a portrait, happy to show her hat.
I have lived in the village Raalte for a few years and know the tradtional costumes worn during festivals and festivities. I learned then all those costumes and hats are hand made with lots of patience. Meters of textile and lace are needed because lots is pleated, ruffled. Like the pleated, ruffled collars back in the Tudor period.
Suddenly she put her head on her hands showing the top of the hat to me and says: “Please take a picture of the top there you can see even more how beautiful the hat is.”
When I pushed the button she lifts her head already and said: “Is it done?”
“Noooo not yet, sorry ma’am I’m not so fast as you!” I replied while we both bursting out laughing.
Anyway I got a capture of the top of the hat at last when we finished laughing.
