From the internet:

Capuchin Monkeys have the largest brains of all the New World monkeys.
They are native to Southern Central America. Capuchin Monkeys are used to help paralyzed people. In 1979, an occupational therapist had an idea of training Capuchin Monkeys to become companions and friends for people who are quadriplegics. As monkeys have hands similar to human hands, they are able to perform some meaningful and useful actions, like serving food, opening and closing the door, turning on and off lights, retrieving objects needed, brushing hair and etc. Raised with love and attention, Capuchin Monkeys make wonderful companions for disabled people.
Unfortunately, a lot of capuchins are being kept as pets and performing animals .

    wonderful capture and lighting

  • Thanks very much for your compliment and fav. It was a huge enclosure with lots of sunlight. I added vignetting around him to get rid of the noisy background.

Wonderful! He sure is really enjoying whatever it is he is eating! And thank you for the info about these wonderful creatures….they must be such a joy to those disabled people they help and shame on those who would consider them pets or worse..those who would use them in the circus. Excellent work!

  • Thanks very much Karen. Never a dull moment with these intelligent Capuchin monkeys. It was a joy to watch them eat and play. It was a huge enclosure with only one male , a few females, lots of little ones and one tiny baby on mum’s back. They all eat and play so well together. I have seen videos of them helping disabled people and they are such good companions.
    Appreciate the fav.

WOW! GORGEOUS IMAGE!!! CONGRATS ON YOUR AWESOME FEATURE! LOVE T! XOXOXOXXOXOXOXXOOX

  • Thanks so much Shar for your wonderful comment, congrats and fav . Whenever I go to the zoo, I spend a long time just observing and enjoying the company of these gorgeous Capuchin monkeys. It is strange but whenever I am stressed I go to the zoo. Even though they are behind bars they seem happy enough. The zoo is huge and I can never finish looking at everything in one day so I suppose after walking for a few hours I feel very relaxed and the animals always leave a smile on my face. The pelicans and some water birds are not even in an enclosure and they never try to escape . Thanks for the fav : )
