Candid portrait taken at the Moon Cake festival,Melbourne, Australia.
I noticed this elderly Chinese lady in the crowd looking very serene with her eyes closed while the very noisy lion dance was performing. Among the maddening crowd she looked like she was miles away in some tranquil place.

Excellent profile patcheah! Love the facial lines and lighting!

  • Thanks Jordan for your compliment and fav. It was actually extremely bright sunlight yesterday, very hot in Melbourne. The lighting was only on the upper part of her face but it accentuated her features. I had lots of problems converting to B&W! Had to clone the shadow from behind her to the front . The black was washed out so had to do B&W twice. I was determined to get it right.I like the contours of her closed eyes. Sometimes B&W can be so frustrating : )

    Wonderful portrait!

  • Thanks Ethna for your compliment and fav. I love watching old people, they sort of have a calming effect on me because they do things so slowly……. I shouldn’t say old,I am nearly there myself : )
