(Excuse my horrible spelling/grammar, I am a computer scientist and language is not exactly one of my strong points)

Has just been over a year from when I bought my first camera but I have found a new passion in photography. Although most of my work has been landscapes up until this point I have started to try portrait photography as well. I will upload some of my portrait stuff very soon.

I am just copying and pasting different questions I have answered in here, so if it feels a little disjointed sorry! I will clean this up a little later.

I also wanted to say THANK YOU to all the amazing support I gotten since being here! I can barely keep up with it. If any one has questions for me try to ask them in this journal entry and I will answer them here.

My landscapes are blended exposures of usually -2, 0 and +2 done in Photomatix. All shot using iso 100 because of the large amount of noise introduced in the blending process. A tri-pod is a must because you can not have any movement between exposures. Touch ups and level adjustments are all done in cs4. Constant aperture through out is important as you want a constant depth of a field.

I am still very much an amateur and have self taught myself through the internet and hope to continue to do so with the help of great sites like this one.
If anyone has more questions about my post processing I would love to answer them.

I use bracketing 99% of the time. Once and while i’ll experiment but i generally find it introduces shake in the camera. I use a 2 second timed shutter release. I’m lucky enough to have a camera that shoots about 6 fps, which even allows for hand held hdr’s, but I still like to use a tripod to get that extra sharpness. I usually have my aperture floating around 8-12 depending on the lens. Anything higher gives to much softness. If i really want a large depth of field i will blend to different focuses.

I use a Canon EFS 10 – 22 mm lens on a canon 40D for the majority of my landscapes now. Although half my work was before I bought that lens, the rest was with the kit lens of 17-85mm

The brownish tone in some of my photos was a blend of a cross processed colour version with a cross processed black and white version.

Cheers
