Red City

Red City by Tony Ryan

Red City

Shot of Melbourne at sunset. I took this shot frokm the factory that I live in. I feel very free in this buiding as it is very big and very old with heaps of character. It is also so cool to be able to look out over the city.

There seems to be something surreal about city scenes. I find this strange as in my head I would think that beach and country locations would be more likely to project this energy. I suppose it is yet another example of how balance would seem to provide the key to human fulfillment or enlightenment.

i agree with your thoughts tony…. in simpler terms for me to convey mine i would say that no matter what man may do to change the landscape ..alter our natural surroundings.. put up monoliths and monsters…..... a greater force call it nature ..call it god..call it universal light… point being that greater force has the final say in the battle over beauty…......................b

So true Butch. I think if we really embraced what you say here that peace would come so quickly. I do my best to understand this force and find the more I do the more secure I become.

I love our city..it has so much vibrancy and warmth – together with an almost old-fashioned respect for others.

Agree Caroline, I think Melbourne has such a creative power and also relative humility when compared to many other cities.

tony…. again we agree…. but security also has it’s trappings…..complacency comes to mind…......b

Hi Butch. Interesting point. I wonder if security brings complaceny or a lack of humility. I am really not sure but think that we humans need to find a way to be passionate even when things are in abundance.

if only…. think how history could have been rewritten… it boggles the mind… all those possibilities if we negate the lack of passion…. b

    Hi Butch,

I truly think we are presently in a time of history where we can embrace history to write a way of life that will allow passion to be experienced with maturity and freedom.

....allow passion to be experienced with maturity…. so are we essentially putting boundary’s on passion?

  • Tony Ryan

Tony Ryan in reply to butchart’s comment, 7 months ago

Interesting Butch. I don’t think being mature is restrictive. The maturity I speak of is when a person is free of fear and self reliant. This person can experience deep passion without losing control and impacting upon others. So many people I know feel that being self aware could be boring. I see it so differently. Further I don’t see real passion as being experienced through chaos which is how many passionate people seem to live.

very good point…and something i’ve wondered about. Passionate people tend to give passion a bad name.I think i just made a metaphorical oxymoron… if there is such a thing.

Funny thing is that in some aspects of life catch 22’s seem to abound. I was thinking before if there is a God would he be passionate abiut his existence and if so would he be mature?
