Body Image

This is a shot of Dan from a portfolio shoot he requested. Dan works incredibly hard on his body yet in shoots at times tenses up. We have spoken about this many times and for this shoot he seemed so much more in the moment. Even in a body shot such as this I believe his more relaxed energy is so adding to the shot’s impact.

I believe both men and women , no matter how good they look, can worry about how they appear to others. However if we just relax we tend to look better anyway. Further as a male looking at this pic I feel empowered rather than jealous and I think much of this is due to the energy of the photo when taken.

I am really passionate about running workshops pertaining to images such as these. I have set up a group to promote and feature these workshops.

Thanks Samuel. The pic and words also support my belief that body images such as these need to be viewed by all. There is so much confusion about looks and bodies and nudity and hiding images from those most confused is hurting rather than helping in my opinion.

Was an easy shot in some ways. Was in a very relaxed mood and the scene just appeared. The lighting was all natural so cannot take credit for this other than noticing it looked good.

Hi Tony I love your energy and ethos around these shoots ….. I would love to talk further to you about a possible collaboration on something I am working on at the minute based on self esteem and body image – your work as a photographer is incredibly powerful but also highlights that even those with the seemingly perfect form suffer sometimes greater with internal insecurities… wonderful imagery by the way!

Hi Hala,

I am very passionate about helping to bring awareness to body issues. I think the human body can be so empowering if we go past our beliefs and judgments. Around 70-90% of the models I have worked with have experienced some form of depression or anxiety disorder. Would love to hear from you.

I have panic/anxiety disorder. I spent 7 years not wanting to leave my home because of it.

Have not experienced this level of panick myself. Certainly have friends who have though not to the extent you mention. I find with my own panick that more often than not it is related to something I am sensing but not consciously aware of. These days if I do sense panic I really slow down and try to meditate by writing how I am feeling. Many times the writing slows me down enough to make conscious the energy that is creating the panic. Once I have reason in my mind for the mood the panic subsides immediately.

Thanks Tahnja, really appreciate all your support. Think there is something magical in this shot. The model must have a very deep essence. Have done many shots before where he looks great but none with this sort of energy impact.

Hi Tony,

Another beautiful photo! Beautiful girl, beautiful decor and atmosphere as friendly.

I just make a bicycle tour through the vineyards of Alsace in France with my camera photo on the back. I pressed a little more on the pedals in the climbs but I was able to make the most of this walk in the sun with some beautiful shots and grapes on the vine. I will share it soon.

I love the quiet strength of this shot Tony…. Dan seems so centered and unaware of his surroundings… it appears almost as if he is being held up from something other than his physical presence…... he knows his own body well to be in such a place…......b

Very true Butch. Funny thing is in my opinion he is normally not so connected to essence. He must have done much inner work since our last shoot.

It may be that he is finally able to let go of some of his masculine man to man barriers…. it would be interesting to see what the results would show of a shoot with a female photographer.
