Mach1
This is a shot I took at my last workshop of my latest passion. It is a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. It has been imported from America and has been a real learning curve for me. It is left hand drive and has a very sticky 3 speed on the floor manual shifter. Remember loving these cars as a kid. Was captivated by their beautiful flowing lines. Still am excited by them even now.
Don’t drive this car too often so am looking to hire it out for shoots if anyone is interested. Happy to drive it within the Melbourne suburban area.
Best Wishes Tony.
ps; Also utilise this car and my other car in the workshops that I am running.

My brother also imported one similar and converted it to RH Drive himself. As a kid, I had a Ford Mustang Matchbox car and it was my favourite Brrom Brrom car, as I think I called it. Your car is a nice colour….bit like “Soft Merlot”.
Tony Ryan replied
The left hand drive is a bit tricky. Not too mechanically minded myself. The colour is actually candy apple red. For this pic thought I would desaturate a bit.

Great street shot Tony. It’s in splendid condition!
Tony Ryan replied
Thanks David, good to hear from you. The car is very original and in pretty good nick. Not show condition but very presentable.
David Harris
They don’t make them like this anymore. Beautiful car and capture.

Tony, That is one amazing car! I’ve always wanted a Mustang. I had a 69 Cougar and then a Starsky and Hutch car. Yes…with the same paint job.
Tony Ryan replied
Think there are so many 50’s -70’s cars that just have a real aura about them. If I was super rich would have about 20 cars I think.

Hello Tony. Gotta love them Mustangs. One of my childhood favorites too. You’ve done a fine job here. Here’s my recent take on the the Mustang: Mach

This is the car that converted me to Ford after owning a ‘63 Impala and two ‘69 Camaros
Mine was not a Mach 1, But originally had a Boss 302 w/Toploader trans. We put that setup in a ‘32 5 window coupe.
This is in exceptional shape good for you…;-)
do you have the rear window louvers?
Tony Ryan replied
I have never had the rear louvers. They would probably look good though. The car is very original. Not showroom nick but very straight and tidy.

envy!...except for the 3 speed..hehe
Tony Ryan replied
Yes, not the easiest gearbox but am getting used to it now. Keeping as is to keep it original.

Oh man, I love this car. I had a 66 Mustang….. I sold it to pay off my dog’s medical bill when he got old . I had purchased my first new car on 83 so the Mustang was just going to sit in front of my parent house. Damn, I should have kept it!
Tony Ryan replied
They are wonderful cars. Taking it to my first Mustang show today so should be fun.

My goodness this is a classic after my own heart. Was it 1965 when the first Mustang came out? I am not sure of the year, but one of my dreams is to own a first year model. I remember when this style came out in the late sixties, it was so cool with its slanted back. Great photos and words once again. Excellent work. – Cora
Tony Ryan replied
Hi again Cora, the first Mustang I think was the 64. A coupe version in good condition would perhaps be around $10-20,000US. These cars really do have a very special energy about them.
