More History
This is another of my distant shots from the AFL calendar I used to do. These guys really did an amazing job in looking so natural in front of the camera. Posing for modelling shots was definitely out of their comfort zone.
I am really passionate about running workshops pertaining to images such as these. I have set up a group to promote and feature these workshops.

Great shot Tony, I always had trouble getting a convincing shot from the guys,
this one does it.

very nice! a very natural feel
butchart
he might be out of his comfort zone… but he looks very much comfortable with who he is… there is a quiet confidence about this….nothing threatening (testosterone fueled) in his body language…. a very caught in the moment appeal…......... great work tony… thank you for sharing the beauty in this shot…................b
Tony Ryan replied
Thanks Butch. I think many of my pics help to reach the real person inside my subjects. I really prioritise getting a person to drop their fronts and project a truth to the camera. Think this also adds impact to the finished photograph.
Geir Floede
I like the neutral colors and the comfortable look.
Keep on the great work.
Tony Ryan replied
Thanks Geir,
Much appreciated.

Great composition in this picture… I love the slight tilt you gave the image, taking it off of vertical gives it more intimacy, and it feels more personal… I will have to try this :)

The symbols are the names of his three sons
Tony Ryan replied
Thanks Burri, I was not aware of this. He must have had them very young as I think he was only about 20-22 when I photographed him.
