Passion

Am so passionate about this model’s look and energy. She is also featured in 08, curves, wisdom and art. She is more fuller in figure than most of the other models and does worry about her weight but to me she is close to the most powerful model I have on my gallery.

Further I find an image such as this so inspiring. I think it is so much more than just her beautiful lines. I feel that the light and mood adds beauty and humility. I also feel much of the power in human aesthetic beauty is that the human can feel the appreciation when viewed and reflect this energy back at levels I would imagine that nature cannot equal.

I am really passionate about running workshops pertaining to images such as these. I have set up a group to promote and feature these workshops.

i’d say you collaborate quite well together, this is a fierce image

  • Tony Ryan replied

Thanks Judith, I think like with many creative couplings it takes much preperation and understanding to chanel the energy into beauty.

Beautiful capture, the light definately adds power and energy to the shot. Having had a quick peek through the rest of your portfolio i agree that your model is definately the most powerful model on here and she should be extremely proud of her natural shape. Her fullness shows the female form as it is meant to be and not an undernourished figure crying out to be something she is not which i feel often leaks out into the image and somehow spoils it.

  • Tony Ryan replied

Thanks Howard. I agree with your observations. Hopefully if we manage to promote more images such as this one that the body image promoted in the fashion pages may begin to broaden.

speaking of many forms that beauty comes in…. now that is certainly beautiful…. i like the way it oozes sensuality and confidence… quite a powerful image… especially with that light concentrated on the heart area.. passionate it is….

  • Tony Ryan replied

Thanks Verangel, really pleased that you see the beauty in this female form. Many seem to have been conditioned to miss aesthetic and energy beauty when it is emanating from a young female.

I actually found this photo quite confronting at first, intimidated by her strength and confidence perhaps? But then seeing the beauty in her strength and confidence.

  • Tony Ryan replied

Hi Apostle, I think I was a little confronted aswell prior to putting it on. I think perhaps it is the size of her bust. My rational mind came in and questioned if it was too much. Then my heart came in and saw the beauty of the shape and energy.

Worries about her weight? I can’t imagine why she would, that is a perfect example of the female form.

  • Tony Ryan replied

I fully agree. However society has so conditioned women to think of their bodies as a limited time frame commodity.

    Tell me Tony..
How can she worry about her weight?
She does not have any impediment for showing herself … opening her body ..
secure of her curves.. her teint..
the accurate eyes of you.. when working..
the indispensable captation of the artist´s sensitivity..
    trembling in her skin.
I truly love your models…and the way you transform her bodies in art..
    But somehow..
I am needed of breaking the clichés…
of finding that a woman is more woman…. when in perfect youth… perfect sizes.. perfect pose… perfect eyes.
I mean..when portraiting these beauties.. I would not say that this is a portrayal of women… but of aesthetical and dedicated in mind and body to modelling… beauties.
I know it is in the genes…
The genetic pushing that considers that the more harmonious the features of a couple… the healthiest and more fertile the couple will be.
Rosa (In the deep of my heart I feel resentment…. a little. You can disregard this comment… or think about it. Or just keep on enjoying your work… it is splendid. Thanks for visiting and sharing.. in my “Meditation&TravellingSoul)

  • Tony Ryan replied

    Hi Rosa,

Your views are well received. I can understand your feeling of resentment. I do not have all the answers in my head and at times feel doubt as to why I find aesthetically attractive women so beautiful. However I do feel a deep appreciation of certain aesthetics be they of a woman or a car or a range of externals that I view.

Personally I don’t find that being aesthetically attractive makes someone a better woman just as I don’t believe a gifted artist or musician for example to be a better person.Further I love viewing the photography of others and am deeply empowered if I view work that I deem more beautiful than mine.

I think with aesthetically attractive women that society has much to answer for in the way they have promoted them. I beleive that there is little humility within many of the women and the people who present these women to the populace. As such the gift aspect is not being shared but used as a commodity. I endeavour to present the people I photograph to look humble and trust that this is more empowering than much of what is presented in society.

Re the model in this pic her perception at first was that she was over weight. However with gentle support she found the confidence to do these photos and a few other series and is gaining more self belief. In 20 years of photographing I have encountered at least 70% of the women having some form of depression or anxiety.

    Thanks again for your input.

    Best Wishes Tony.

  • RosaCobos

    RosaCobos

    Hi Tony….
I agree with you. Specially in this “There is little humility within….”
You have nothing to do with my resentment or not..I was created by my parents, specially my mother…whose stressing in loosing weight in my early teens drove me for an strong insecurity about my physical appeareance and anorexy…and though I can say it was cured.. never it was my insecurity. And as any…”envious passion” this contains a true admiration for what it desires..a long well shaped body…flashing one´s heart and eyes.
I have read and participated in your writting about anorexy.I consider you a sincere person.
Do not beleive that you re showing your feelings and thoughts or sel-promoting intentions.
A picture.. as a movie film does show the reality of the souls that are participating as actors in the scene.Contempletating the splendour of your model..it take me an effort to imagine why could she have any problem about her weight and less aout her “over weight”..It seems for me just madness. She had that problem before you worked with her…and yet I think that they need help…affective and pschological help. May be you are trying your best..but yet.. she is a beauty… and you´re an artist.
I love nudes..both..male and female and much more in pics than in movies. I discovered Penthouse and PlayBoy magazines in USA…where I stayed in my teenages…imagine…here in Spain was all forbidden.. we were living in a absurd society of sexual repression. But I was a free mind…and I found them a thriling experience. I was then.. in my anorexy…no one knew…the less in USA.. but my spirit broke….and they sent me home.
    Well that is another story…...
I am glad that at least… though you do your work and why not enjoy so much doing it…you are worry for the soul of your model mates..and try to help them to find a sincere place in the world they are moving. Do it….women are much more tha a simple image and bastard
    commercial insterest.
    Have a hug.
Rosa (thank you for being so generous in your answers. It is a pleasure sharing with you)

  • Tony Ryan replied

    Thanks Rosa,

I love that you go so deep into both your own writings and the writings of others such as myself. I truly believe that the answers to the ills of the world lie in the human heart. If we take our minds deep enough into our hearts we truly can inspire. The way the female has been portayed and mis represented has created much pain. However the more we delve deeply into the issues the quicker the pain can become pleasure in my opinion.

    Best Wishes Tony.

Beautiful work again, Tony. Excellent title for the work, as it looks like the light of passion exploding from her heart from the largest highlight of the shot between her breasts right over her heart. That and the pose give the work the feeling as though she is literally ‘throwing’ that passion from within to the rest of the world with such power that the world must acknowledge that passion, and in the process casting the inhibition caused by self-doubt from her soul, freeing her to be her true self.

Your beautiful model has a perfect figure, hardly what I would consider ‘fuller’. When women get too thin it removes the beautiful grace and curvature that nature has gifted them. I see so many ‘bony’ models these days, lumpy from their skeletal structures trying to force their way through their skin, and with that the beautiful smooth and graceful lines of their bodies being removed.

One of my favorite two commercials running on the television right now are both by Dove. One commercial has women of all ages and body types in their undergarments, showing how the beauty of a woman is not diminished because they don’t fit a predefined mold. The second commercial shows a little girl sitting on a sofa in front of her television, bombarded by society through various media about what she needs to be beautiful. She almost looks as if she could cry sitting there over her concern that she will not be able to live up to social expectations of what makes a woman beautiful, and therefore already feels as though she were unattractive. It was such a wonderful and powerful statement back to society about what they are doing to women, and even children awaiting their womanhood. My hats off to Dove for both the responsibility they have taken to correct these misconceptions of what makes a woman beautiful, as well as the balls to produce such a powerful social statement.

  • Tony Ryan replied

Aesthetics and body image is such a complex topic. I love presenting the women I do but have fielded much criticism over the years for making other women feel depressed. I truly understand why these people feel as they do. However I also feel that each person has the choice to be hurt in comapison in aspects of their lives or to search deep within their own emotions for wisdom and strength.

Having said this I believe Penny is a very desireable shape. I too do not favour the skinny catwalk models. Much prefer curves and muscle tone.

  • Boo Daily

    Boo Daily

With respect : – ‘She is more fuller figure than most’? Maybe you need to think again about that line – no wonder she has a complex if that’s a true reflection of your thoughts to a female form of perfection such as this…..

stunning shot oozing strength and empowerment!

  • Tony Ryan replied

Good point Hala. I meant to say most of the other models. Will change this now. Thanks for pointing this out. I do however love her shape and size and Penny is very aware of this.

  • Boo Daily

    Boo Daily

Glad to hear it – you have a very important role to play and can really support women to feel beautiful about their form – and not to have to ‘conform’ to whatever the ‘norm’ is that society thinks is beautiful – I would say all your models are way above average on every level….. maybe some self esteem workshops may be hand…. as am sensing some real body dysmorphia in some of these amazingly beautiful creatures!!!! lol

  • Tony Ryan replied

Many of the women I have worked with over the years have had some form of depression or anxiety disorder. Also some of the sportsmen I have worked with. I think that it is important for society to realise that looks, fame or money do not in themselves create security in oneself. I am presently doing some photographic workshops here in Melbourne where these topics are touched on. Also keen to take something similar to schools in the future.

i was expecting to only see comments from men… it is reassuring seeing women do comment and recognise the beauty of a female body. I so agree with everything you say about the woman’s body power and aesthetics. i find this picture particularly strong and full of beautiful energy. Such perfect lines (how can she think…???) Love your work, very respectful and in touch with your models. they all seem so sensitive and in trust.

  • Tony Ryan replied

Thanks very much for your comments Sonia. I think that if images of women are presented with grace that they are attractive to all demographics. I think that beautiful aesthetics can be pure for all provided the subject is humble with their presentation.
