It’s been a while since I looked at photos from my travels. While flicking through them today, I came across this one, taken in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The locals you see here are poling themselves across the Delta to an island in it’s centre. They are using mokoros, African style gondolas that are carved from a single tree trunk.
These people live the simplest of lives, never asking for more and more than happy with what they have. Not influenced by technology, media or western culture in any way. They live their lives the best way they know how, and it was so liberating being able to spend a few days with them, and remember the things that really count.
