I can’t remember the exact time this old beast came into our family, but a few years ago, it just turned up, much to the disgust and surprise of all of us!

My step-dad brought this old Kingswood home. It barely ever gets used, hasn’t been reconditioned or restored and basically just sits in the driveway, or on the front lawn, begging to be sent to the wreckers yards.

It is good for something though.. TTV :)

This was four individual shots that I have placed together as a collage, desaturated the first later, added a second, and also desaturated. Added several filters and played around with the colour balance before flattening. Further tweaking of levels, curves, brightness, contrast and colour balance.

really like the collage, you get a great feel of what the car is like and its character. : )

  • Thank you so much Karen! The old car definitely has a lot of character, would look fantastic if it were given a revamp :)

Mate you’ve done it again, this is all sorts of cool rolled up into an amazing composition. And it’s a little spooky as I was rummaging through old photo albums recently looking for photos fo our old 1969 peppermint green Kingswood station wagon, which I loved. As soon as I brought up this brilliant image and saw those headlights I had an instant flashback. It’s funny but these individual captures are exactly how I used to look at that old rust-filled car, the curve of the wheel arch, THAT grille, the chrome bumpers, those details that just make those old steel aussie giants. Mate I keep saying it but you capture the experience, the memories so scarily well, oh and if I find any of those missing pics you know where I’ll be sending them, brilliant stuff my friend

  • I swear we share a brain mate, or we are living some strange parallel universe life! I’m really glad you like this one, bit of a stretch for me, but it seems like it worked. Just awesome that you had the flashback from this piece, that’s made me smile wide Jus! I took about 30 shots of the car, but these are the ones that just hooked me. Mate, your comment has once again given my work so much more depth and purpose! Haha, yeah send them over so we can work out if we are the same person or not!! :)

Do you think your dad would miss it? If not, hoist the sails and bring it on over!! Will meet you in Russell lol. And then I look at what blue above me has written, a 1969 pepperming green kingswood station wagon… could sail in tandem

  • Haha, Melbourne to Russel Kingswood Yatch Race?? I think you’re onto something big here. I’m actually shocked the engine on this thing still starts, it just sits in a corner of our property for months on end, then gets moved when we get sick of looking at it lol!

This is seriously gorgeous work, Andrew – wow. I’d love to have this old Kingswood in my driveway! lol

  • Ahh it’s such an icon of 70s Aussie life, if only we had it in the 70s haha! Thanks heaps Colleen, I’m glad you like this one. Might have to make a new years resolution to get this bad boy restored in 2010! :)

I really think U are one of the WONDROUS artist here on RB…U can create and give us GREAT emotions by ur shots…Every shot of yours is a masterpiece and tells a story from its own…U could write anything in the descriptions…the shot would speak for itself…This is fab, Andrew…TNX 4 being here, on RB, to give us something special to watch & to dream about…This is what I really think of u as an artist, and as a person as well…’cause ONLY a sensible person could produce such a masterpiece!…Luv, DANIELA

  • Oh my god, thank you so much Daniela, that is such a kind and generous comment to make about me and my work! I’m a little lost for words here. It makes me so happy that you connect with my work so well, and it draws such emotion and feeling from you. Thank YOU for being such a supportive friend and for your never ending encouragement, it keeps me going! :)
