18 month old brown male lion, Etosha.

It’s hard to believe that this face will one day be hunting and killing.

Lion Reserve in Zimbabwe are breeding and re-releasing brown lions back into the wild to help keep them away from extinction.

He’s magnificent, and so beautiful. I think it’s great to hear he’s out doing what they do, wouldn’t want to see it in action though! Hopefully you will be taking more photos of him?

  • He is a handsome looking cub, isn’t he? The breeding program does such a great job to help keep the population going. I took this shot last year this time, when I was in Zimbabwe. At the time, Etosha was 18 months old. By now, he would have been released back into the wild again, so unfortunately, I won’t get to see him again. I do want to go back and take more shots of whoever they are raising at the time though :)

Well that is so nice to read about good news, and how they are making a difference, so happy to hear this. Can’t wait to see new lion pics if you do =)

  • It’s definitely reassuring to know that things are being done to save these incredible animals. I think the next set of lion pics I take will be at the zoo unfortunately lol! Till I get back over there anyway :)

Excellent Andrew…… innocent until proven hungry, and fricassee of Andrew are on the menu.

  • Haha, such a valid point! Thankfully they are kept very content and fed right before visitation hours are in force :)
