Safe From Harm by Andrew Paranavitana

In Namibia, I visited a local school as part of my shanty town experiences. The children were so innocent, happy and carefree.

They asked to have their photos taken, and soon as I pulled my camera out, this was their reaction. It was really moving to see something so normal to me bring so much joy to these kids.

I couldn’t help but think how different their existence is to mine, especially when I was their age. Despite not having many material possessions, they are happy and they are so safe with each other, their teachers and families. Made me wonder what life would be like with little or no crime, as there is nothing to steal and no reason to either. Without those things to worry about, I wondered if we could all be this happy in life.

I like the added text combined with the picture. The picture itself tells a story to the viewer. But it’s even better to be able to read your thoughts and experience when taking it and being in Namibia. Wonderful…

  • Thanks a lot Peter! A lot happened there in a short time, it was a really intense experience for me, I want to pass that on through the photo and description. I’m glad it all came through :)
