This is a collaboration that I have had the pleasure of completing with the incredibly talented, portrait extraordinaire Shelly Hiebert.

The original photo is below. I manipulated the colour of the original portrait of Shelly’s daughter Abi. Added some linear movement and distorted the image further.

I feel it gave the image a gothic, yet almost electronic or digital appeal, so I chose Beautiful People as title, as a dedication to one of Shelly’s favourite songs.

I’d like to thank Shelly for allowing me this fantastic opportunity to expand my skills, portfolio and our own friendship.

WOW! This is soooo great Andrew! I really do love what you have done with this. It has almost a haunting feel to it….sort of a ‘white noise’ vibe. Really fantastic work! And it has been such a pleasure working with you and I really appreciate this opportunity as well :) And thanks so much for the dedication with the title….that is brilliant! Here is to perhaps more collabs in the future and a long lived friendship as well :)

(is it bad to fave this?! because i am going to hahaha!)

  • I really don’t know what to say to that.. I’m really honoured Shelly, thank you so much! I’m so happy we got to do this, it’s been a great experience from start to end. Here’s to the future :) And many many more collab’s to come with them!!

hey man !!! i m a huge fan of your work as it is, but this one is really awesome … edited a few of abis pics myself so the subject is dear to my heart… i like the effect you put here … to me it reminds of being put behind a piece of glass…
    excellent work my friend

  • Hey thanks a lot mate!! I have seen your collab’s with Shelly, and all of your work in general.. i am in awe man!!!! Means a lot to me that you like this one, thank you very much. I can see it from behind glass as well, it almost gives me the feel of a futuristic display of “people” in the future. Thanks again mate

very clever stuff mate. Agree with the gothic, digital look. Almost automaton like, I am particulary drawn to the eyes and the way they have been broken up. Colours are right up there. Very unique and different.
    h.

  • Thanks very much H, I identify with the eyes as well. It almost reminds me of a sad painting from the 1920s. Glad you see it in a similar tone, thanks for the great feedback once again!
