And now for something a bit different..
My first attempt at portraiture. While I was in Sydney, my friend Leila asked me to photograph her for a dance shoot portfolio. This is one of the photos from that shoot. Prior to this I had not photographed human subjects. As you can see by my portfolio, I have a liking for things that are either not alive, or if alive, cannot speak!
Was a bit nerve wracking but Leila and I both think it turned out rather well.
I have cropped this original photo, adjusted the brightness and contrast, and added a cooling filter to it to attain this colder and harsher appearance to the original. I guess I wanted it to fit in with my theme of things that aren’t so friendly. Let it be clear that Leila is in no way unfriendly or cold, and I think that’s why I wanted to represent it so differently.
From the cold look in her eyes, I decided the mood would be personally vengeful for this one. Although the look in her eyes is so deep and dark, anything could be running through her mind! (She really is a nice person in reality :) )
