The Moulin Rouge, Paris. It was built in 1889, and became birthplace and home to the can-can dance. While the production of the show is very similar to what Baz Luhrmann portrayed in the film, important to note that the interior looks absolutely nothing like what the film shows.

Added a sepia tone to this one and applied the Orton effect.. Thought it would be interesting to take the bright neon lights of the present back into the past.

It is an amazing building, inside and out, so original, borderline on tacky, but able to get away with a lot more than if it were in any other city.

Love the angle,,,, the sepia tone works really well ,, offers a vintage mood to the architecture,,, however the neons contradicts the mood & adds a wonderful contrast ,,,, I love it,, well done

  • Thats exactly what i thought when i added the sepia too. Thank you so very much!!

love this shot. I think the way you’ve captured the sky as one tone helps bring out the historical charm of the theme of the location. I also think you’ve pitched the toning at just the right level.

  • Cheers H, glad you like this one, it brings back a lot of good memory for me, so I hoped adding the sepia tone would give it a nostalgic feel, but keep the modern factor with the neon lights.
