These are a few of the antique books I’ve come across rummaging around second hand stores. I have wanted to capture them properly, and what better way than with the viewfinder!

History 101 is the inside pages of the red book at the bottom of this shot.

Tweaking of levels and curves in this one, and crop of original image to a square. See here for instructions on how to create this image.

I love the way you set this composition up! Very imaginative and I love old books. I have quite a few in my home library…..one is almost 100 years old and falling apart. Looks like you found some treasures. :)

  • parmi replied 20 days ago

Thanks so much Sharon! I actually only moved the french dictionary a little, the books have been on my shelf for months now. Love finding old, forgotten things like this in second hand stores. Isn’t it incredible when something lasts over the years like that!

I really love this technique Parmi, it looks so authentic – it feels like glimpsing a peak into the past. The old books and the old phone in the last one are such perfect subjects for this kind of thing. Its like you’ve found a time travelling viewfinder – can’t wait to see whats next :)))

  • parmi replied 19 days ago

I love that description: time traveling viewfinder! I could start an “adventures of the time traveling viewfinder” series!!! I’m really happy you are enjoying these shots Trish, it’s so satisfying creating them, knowing they are appreciated. Thank you so much for the ongoing support my friend :D

You hit the nail on the head here….. I instantly thought of my school days in the library (as a child the disiplined silence was unbearable….lol) ... this feels my senses with those memories… I can almost smell those stale musty pages… .Thanks for the momeries Andrew… well done

  • parmi replied 7 days ago

Ahh the silence of the library was torture!! Haha.. Really pleased you like this one, it’s a shot I have wanted to take for a long time, but could never do the books justice. The viewfinder finally brought it all together :)
